I said before I cannot stand Zverev. Despicable to yell "C'mon" on his opponent UFE. Bad sport.
Totally agree , that’s the reason why I dislike Nadal too. But the fake German is at the same low level.

I don't mind Zverev but clearly he has a huge mental block at majors. I want Next Gen to step up and help usher out Nadal in particular. That gin and juice scum has ruined this sport enough. And if they continue to be worthless then Djoker becomes a threat to ruin Roger's career as well. Even if the younglings end up ushering out Fed too at least there is new blood.

New, but tired blood in these NG'rs! Lost 2 young hotties in Sascha and Perseus! Will they never turn it around before I stop watching?

How long will Lendl stay with Zverev I wonder, though I remember thinking the same thing when he was coaching Murray:)

I wouldn’t be surprised if Novak ends up with more majors than anyone else. Sure, he went on a form of mental walkabout for a while there, but clearly he’s back, especially at non-clay majors. He’s never been injured in a manner which would suggest a clue to the end of his career. He could still play for several years, giving him ample time to surpass 20.

I think his window is smaller than people think. The next gen seems more likely to become relevant off clay than on it. If Nole wins 2 of next 3 he is a definite threat at 20+, otherwise I'd be very surprised. With Nadal I don't see him losing at RG anytime soon. Hopefully a miracle happens. One more defeat there and hopefully that's about the last we hear from him.

Lol and I thought Novak had the tough draw....

I hope Kyrgios manages to win tomorrow, should be a good second round against Nads.

Why is he fake? Cause of the Russian last name?

I don't despise Zverev. He lacks a bit of personality, but he can't help it. Happy to see others win over him though.

Some people like to invent nicknames to be pick on players they don't like. No detail too small or incorrect. I guess "handsome German" wasn't insulting enough. :lol6:

You really should stop with the slander. No amount of giving you a laundry list of reasons your belief is wrong-headed and agenda-driven will change your mind, but everyone (except the odd fellow Kool-Aid drinker, like Front) knows it's just sour grapes and unfounded bile. And yet, you just keep slipping it in. You're being a troll when you do that.

I keep twisting and turning this upset of Stefano's and makes no sense at all.
Fabbiano of all people. Really?
I know Stefano's had not been around more than 1 season and a half, but how on earth?
You who made it to R4 a year ago, are 6 ranked get upset by a 30y old, ranked 89 and is 5'8" tall and hasn't done anything remarkable ever in his career !!!???

.... Let's be completely frank, no one on the women's side is going to draw remotely close to the top guys at the moment. But this is specific to this moment. But particularly Rafa and Roger, and to a great extent Novak as well, represent a draw that not even Serena matches. It's simply the way it is. It's easy to figure that out, by looking at the resale value of debenture tickets. Nothing compares to show courts when Fedalovic is playing. Nothing. But... I do also recall a time when the shoe was on the other foot. This was back in the era of peak Sampras, particularly when Agassi wasn't around. The Graf-Seles dynamic was a bigger draw at Wimbledon than Sampras. That was just a fact at the time. So my point is in no way gender biased. It's more star biased if you will....

Informed and accurate post. The counter tickets are either only available at the venue or are limited. In either case highly subsidized. The true ticket price of the Gentlemen's QF/SF/F each is about thrice the corresponding ticket price of Ladies'. And these aren't even resale values.

https://www.wimbledondebentureholders.com/buy-wimbledon-tickets

It's not just star power because at this stage, it is not yet guaranteed that all of the big 3 will make it into QF and later. The prices for men's QF/SF/F matches are, today, already thrice the price of the ladies. But the real money is in the TV rights. I don't have those numbers.

I don't care if the gentlemen subsidize the ladies. That is Wimbledon's business and the players' business. Although one product makes more money for it, Wimbledon must successfully sell both products as one package. The ladies have the business savvy to negotiate a good deal. Good for them. These are business decisions. To frame it as an equal pay issue is like demanding that male models be paid the same as female models. Last I heard there is a 50% 'pay gap' which, of course, is a dishonest way to frame the issue.

I don't even think he's 5'8". Did you see that handshake at the net? The guy is short. But he's tricky enough. I don't know if it can all be explained by nerves v. nothing-to-lose, but Fabbiano was very crafty and served well, from the little I saw. Stefanos should have turned it around, but couldn't. I'll still give him a pass on being young, with pressure that he hasn't seen, but it's still a bit shocking.
