Nadal is looking very strong. I think he might go all the way. If Novak reaches the final (not convinced this will happen), he has his work cut out for him.

Who's going to take out Novak? I watched him vs. Tsonga and he wasn't super sharp, but it's only the second round and this is by far his best major. His draw looks rather easy too. I don't see any especially dangerous lurkers that may take him out but I could be wrong. If he reaches the final, he's the favorite no matter who's on the other side of the net.

I don’t think Tsonga/Shapovalov/Medvedev is a particularly easy draw in the first rounds.

Novak isn’t as invincible as he used to be. My bet is on a Novak - Nadal final though, should be a good one.

Medvedev is the only tough one out of those. Tsonga's just back from yet another knee injury and his career has been in a massive downward spiral for years now and Shapo is nowhere near good enough to beat the top guys yet. Medvedev on the other hand is pretty damn good a lot of the time.

I have No Idea why tha atp canceled the 16 seeds rule that was going to happen, that would have been awesome, plus federer would not have the cupcake draw he has in this event.

The courts aren't slow it's the balls that are playing differently. They apparently don't take spin well either making it more of a dead bounce. Anyways I'd say it's still faster than IW and Miami.

IIRC one of the announcers last night was saying that night matches are different than day matches, where the spin has more bite? Or was it the other way around....

Agreed. No player with real aspirations plays the week before a major unless there is a serious crisis of confidence.

This guy may have his day (if he puts on some serious muscle) but he's not a contender yet.

Come on folks, get real. D-Minor just broke into the scene last year. He does not expect to win AO this year even in his wildest dreams. He did the right thing in playing both Brisbane and Sydney. Actually, he probably did not expect to win them either. But, he managed to win Sydney and thus got his first title. I think he made a right decision.

Playing in the week before is a right decision for some people. At his stage of career, it is certainly a right decision for him.

LOL at Federer having a cupcake draw. His draw is way harder than that of Nadal and Djokovic.

Former top 5 like you said. Back from injury and at the tail end of their careers. Tsitsipas is much harder than either of those.

the only way federer wins AO this year is if Djokovic gets injured or Nadal does not make the semis.
Thats because of the curse, federer put on nadal, federer and his wife are into black magic ha ha ha ha, but lets get real federer can not beat nadal with how slowly the courts are at the moment.
Well 5h

Well that M.ebden said about One of the courts So might just be one the main courts. Whatever federer still cannot beat nadal with his new serve.

Good on Tiafoe for coming back from 2 sets to one down on Seppi. He's taking it up a notch in his progress.

This is fair and I agree. I know your ambition for him at this AO was only to beat Rafa, but, esp. in hindsight, that wasn't going to happen even if he were more rested. So he's had a great 2 weeks.
