No. Fritz is a different kind of player. He is trying as many shots as he can from his repertoire. There are tough opponents, before he can even think about Rafa.
I was tweeking Darth. He said "the great one," and I meant Rafa.

Hopefully there's more of this to come. Much better performance. Only one who could stay with this version is Novak.

That's an over-value. Fritz really isn't much of a test.

I agree. Fritz stung him to life. He forced him to shift gears. Tennis players are superstitious. They think they do not have to produce excellent tennis in the early rounds, to save it for the business end of the tournament. In terms of shot making Roger has no equal, but Rafa and Djokovic present different kinds of problems.

His serve and power is. I think the guy has decent talent, Roger was brutal most of the night.
I'm not dissing Fritz. I like him. But he hasn't done anything for like 3 years. He's a total re-build. Huge over-match.

It will be interesting on how Tsitsipas will handle the moment on Sunday night. While I expect Federer to win, I want to see if Tsitsipas can hang with Federer even if it just for 4 sets.

It is crazy! Both ESPN and ESPN2 were busy showing basketball matches. I thought I should at least be able to see it on computer on watchespn; but, they put it behind the pay wall of ESPN+. :nono::help:

He's actually come on a bit at the end of 2018 and has started this year decently. Anyways I don't think the guy is a world beater yet but he was better than I figured, particularly his movement. Big server and hitter like a typical American but he doesn't move like Isner or the other trees.

I've seen enough of Roger to know when he is having one of "those nights" where his whole game is clicking. Good sign going forward but there is still a lot of work to do. Hopefully he destroys Perseus back to the Homeland. I will root for the Greek hero in a different tournament.

I think Roger is smart. Intellectually speaking.

So apparently Roger and Tsitsipas didn't practice together this offseason. They were just in Dubai at the same time.

No, they did. I posted it and even complained about it before this season began.

Intellectually speaking, Roger is an athlete. He's smart for an athlete. Or smart enough. Remember this is the guy that never heard of Freud.

This AO is hard to watch and not just because of the time difference. Everyone is behind a pay wall now, and they want us to pony-up. :(:finger:

I thought, the timing of Roger's match was great. I can view it on old fashioned TV from 9 to 11 and then go to bed. But, at the end I could not even watch it on computer.

I'm just saying it would not have been hard for Roger to look good v. Fritz. I still think he has upside, but he's far from dangerous at this moment. I'm hoping he does pick up where he left off, though, and becomes one of the best or the best US player.

That's maddening. Sorry, pal. For myself, I gotta get up at 3am to watch Rafa/D-Minor. :sleep2:
