30 is still old for elite players. The guys who have peaked in their late 20's - early 30's have been 2nd tier guys or lower who simply don't have the same mileage on them as the elite guys.

I didn't see deteriorating results in 2017 from him. Even if 2018 turned bad at the end he still won a major so I'd take another year like that as well.
Don't even try to talk to me about mileage on the elite ones. I thought the deteriorating results were marked in 2018. But I'm not here to harsh your mellow, even though you wish my guy horrible things at every turn. I like your optimism. It's the fan's job to believe.

THE ONLY THING THAT MATTERS IN THE SPORT !

Is that Roger Federer wins the Australian Open this year, probably his last shot at Grand Slam Glory.

Why don't you want to talk about mileage? They all have a lot. Roger has a lot more than the other guys due to being 5 years older.

Roger stunk the last 9 months of 2018. Maybe he never gets the mental edge back. Gun to head Id say he's probably done, but I thought the same after 2013 as well.

I been really frustrated so far with C9 (Nine network) broadcast rights to the Australian Open and lead in Aussie tournaments, after C7 (Seven) held the rights for 44 years. Here C9 - a one network monopoly at the AO this year - treat the Slam with more talking heads, including hosts and choosing to highlight a lot more of the social atmosphere and occasions etc, at times interrupting the action. C9 should split the rights with Fox sports (of which i subscribe to).

I was saying the same as you about mileage. It was a rhetorical flourish. And I'm with you on "done." I was convinced after he didn't take advantage of the 2014 semi loss of Djokovic to snag that one. So never say never, at least when it comes to these 3 guys.

Patchy play from Roger. He was showing flashes of the Roger we saw in the second half of last year. I hope he can be more consistent, otherwise he won’t reach the quarterfinals.

LOL here we go C9 just come back from commercials and instead of crossing back to live tennis, they cross to a feature called THE PEOPLE's Court with Todd Woodbridge describing/demonstrating to the archchair viewer, what Mathew Ebden tactics are likely to be against R. Nadal.

Surprised to see Evans has only won 43% of 2nd serves. It has seemed much higher than that. He has won 75% of first serves which is way too high. It's actually a pretty clean match though, 25/11 for Evans and 45/16 for Roger.

Ya, stats look good. But, did not feel like it while watching though. The final W/UFE numbers for Roger is 56/17 and for druggie s 28/14.

Meanwhile two time GS finalist and Mudabala conqueror of Bull, makes an exit by losing to Tiafoe (who was actually not in form recently), thus making Ralph's path clearer than before. All hopes hinge on D-Minor now. If D-Minor cannot stop Ralph, then he is sure to reach SF.

What is this 1573 Arena? Anyone knows what it is about?

What happened to Hisense Arena? Is that now being called Melbourne Arena?

Didn't get to see it but I like Evans' game. On a good day he could beat almost anyone and should really have put Stan away a few years ago.

Berdych seems to be back in top form, interesting to see what he can do down under
