Novak will play Tokio instead of Beijing. He is saying he wants to feel the court and feel the city for the upcoming Olympics next year. I think the Olympic gold medal is bugging him. He says he is pain free now, but we will see after a week or two of competing.

I was on another site saying: "way to vulture an event!" Unbelievable! Djokovic's won 2 majors and a Masters, but he's vulturing a 500 event to retain his #1! What's the difference between him going to Tokyo or Beijing? :nono:  :banghead: :cuckoo:   :ptennis:

He needs to play not only because he is defending the points, but because he is playing poorly since the Wimbledon ended. Switch to Japan was unexpected, but he has to start somewhere. Will be interesting to see how much he will fight for YE #1 or will he just let it go at some point.

That's interesting. I think also the best explanation for why to start back so quickly, rather than wait another week. No question he'd like to have a gold medal...he's stated it as a goal. So why not go play on the courts a bit.

Kyrgios banned for 16 weeks. Makes no difference as he is currently out with shoulder injury anyway. Not on tennis.com yet.

Seems the stupid cunt Pat Rafter had a lot of influence on the decision too. A lot of sad people here will be happy at least.

Personally, I'm completely indifferent. Why would I be happy? Instead of not watching him get bounced out of the second round, I'll be not watching him play Call of Duty at home.

The more important question is why does this ban seem to upset you? Are you saying he didn't have it coming? This portrayal of Kyrgios as a revolutionary rebel fighting for a good cause is quite odd.

EDIT: Lol, the article calls Kyrgios "one of the biggest draws in men's tennis." Ah yes, millions were lining up to watch him get spanked by the Rublevs of the world.

Rod Laver wanted bad Nick to be banned too, not sure Rafter was the one who decided

I didn't mean you when I said some sad people would be happy. There are plenty of them here who will be delighted though. Seeing as his shoulder is acting up right now though it's not a big deal that he's banned when he's injured. The only real issue is he'll miss the AO but doubt he was making it past round 3 anyway.

I don't think he deserved a ban tbh. The fines were more than enough plus he got fined another $25k.

Well 6 months is definitely excessive, admittedly.

He was out with shoulder Injury? When?
He played in China this week.
He pulled out of the LC singles that was supposed to be v. Nadal because of his shoulder. And he did go to China, but lost. Decent chances he's got a shoulder issue.

Kyrgios ban is suspended for 6 months... basically meaning he's on probation. If he plays nice, then he won't serve a day of it.
I think this is a good idea. It seemed he was on his best behavior during LC, and enjoying his tennis. As I said on that thread, I hope he can take that forward. A ban would really have only undone any good, imo.

That's good news. Didn't have time to research it properly at work. Guy on my team said Kyrgios had been banned but it wasn't on tennis.com and only random Tweets earlier this morning. Hopefully he behaves so the twats hoping for his ban end up disappointed. The shoulder issue is more of a pertinent issue right now anyway. He said his first serve speed was down around 50kph
