Doesn't really matter whether you can see it or not. You talk about slams as if everyone faces everyone else. Let's just say that your contention that Federer can't beat Novak at a major. It means nothing if they don't face each other. In any case I don't believe that Roger can't beat him. With that backhand clicking his court positioning changes dramatically. Granted he's not showing that sort of form at the moment. But if he's still sticking around, it's because he thinks he can still summon the fire. Your assumptions about how majors are fixtures is completely flawed and you're obviously high on Novak's recent success. Good for you

Then you misunderstand me. I am saying that with both Novak and Nadal in the draw, things are much harder for Fed. As I said, it means he is to a large degree dependent on upsets and not getting upset himself. I pointed out to you that I don't think he has that great of a chance against Novak since he has not beaten him at a non-clay slam since 2009! and that clay win was from 2011. Good luck with that.

They are definitely stealing each others slams, that's what makes it so much fun :) . I can't resist tho pointing out that Fed didn't even make it to the final, so I'll leave the whole if thing for what it is. Otherwise we can bring up the argument that Fed should have tanked the 2011 FO semi, just to keep Nadal from winning in the final.
I thought he should have tanked. That was the only Federer win that left me disappointed.:)

Granted, I was pretty biased, but I couldn't believe the ferocity he played that semi. And then the baboon crowd wasn't thinking beyond the semis, heavily rooting against Djokovic and for Fed. Well it serves them right what they got in the final.

I'll take this one Front :D

Mate he's a Fed fan. He loathes Rafa. What boomerang are you talking about? :lulz1:

I was speaking of any naysayer trying to undermine Nole's fantastic win! He was no favorite and seemed to float under the radar avoiding the slings and arrows of the British press maybe thinking he was wasting his time! I never thought this possible and would have been happy enough if he had gotten to the SF after a horrendous 2 years with just a couple smaller tournament wins! The losses have been more notable and I'm glad with this win, it'll eliminate a lot of that! It'll take pressure off of him and he might go into the summer with new life! It would be nice if he could complete his resume with at least 1 Cincy Masters after being in the final a half dozen times! Of course, if he wants to, he can get to the final again, blow it w/ 3 MP's while serving, then springboard into another USO victory! That'd be nice! B-)

Nor had he beaten Rafa for years. These things don't matter mate. You can't extrapolate, this is sports. That's why all you folks have been making shocking predictions about him for years. This is sports, I don't get a lot of you folks, I think you have more fun with your predictions than the actual sports itself. Each to their own. I'll just wait and watch. He might have finished winning, he might not. Finding out will be a lot of fun, to me at least

Well if that’s all what you can come up with, the ‘life is like a box of chocolates’ argument, and not look at how they have actually played against each other in the past, I will sleep sound tonight.

Lol! That's not really what I said. I have been on record on here giving my views about what has been problematic about the Djokovic match up for Roger in recent times and why his retooled backhand could be a game changer. We won't know until they play. I find my thinking to be a tad more substantive than Novak won Wimbledon so Roger's done argument which isn't really anything other than the wishful thinking of a Djokovic fan. You talk about Rafa as if he's necessarily an obstacle for Federer. Yet Roger finds himself with a streak of wins against him. If that's what you're counting on then I too can sleep quite well :D Frankly I'll sleep well anyway, I don't invest my emotional energy in this stuff. It will be what it will be, and I'll enjoy the entertainment. How a guy who has won 3 of the last 7 slams can be written off completely is quite beyond me. But then, that's probably just me! :)

Fed beat Nole at Wimbledon in 2012 by the way. If Fed brings his new ROS to the table it'd be tough for Nole on anything remotely fast. Roger has made Nole's serve look like Karlovic at times over the years. I looked forward to that final this year but Fed crapped the bed to put it nicely.

Ah yes I stand corrected on that one. Next year he’ll be 37. Let’s see if he can remedy 2014 and 2015 then.

If that's you being euphemistic, I wouldn't like to see you being blunt.

Fed Cilic final? God save us all. Fed Wawrinka I disagree with as well. Fed Nadal AO final I give you that one. I wouldn't say easily, but Nadal v Del Potro was comparable, perhaps better if not for DP messing up the fifth set (granted it did provide for some good fighting at the end). Nadal Dimitrov meh. I can see you liked it from the perspective of a Nadal fan and it was a great match, but it was Dimitrov.
Nadal Dimitrov wasn't "meh," and you said it wasn't. I didn't say I liked it because Nadal won. I said it was a great match, and so did you. Try to stop thinking everyone has an agenda. You're the one that asked for better 5-setters. And we agree on that one.

It has always astonished me that Federer fans thought Roger should have tanked that match. That was the first time I realized how deep the animosity was, and that I'd seen that lack of faith in Federer by his fans. Who knows what would have happened had he actually tanked it, but, if they had gone to a 5th, they'd have had to play on Saturday, and I still don't think the winner would have beaten Nadal. It's also impossible to say that Djokovic was ready to beat Rafa at RG, since it took him 4 more years and a seriously deficient Nadal to do it. I think that's one that the Fedfans should let go.

I said 'meh' in terms of whether it was better than Djokovic Nadal this weekend. I disagree, even tho I agree that Nads Dimitrov was a great match. You should be nicer to me, haven't you noticed I am starting to develop a sweet spot for your guy (even tho I still want him to lose)?

That is the biggest mistake of Federer's career. I've still not fully come to terms with that blunder.

I just had a problem with your saying that I called that match good because Nadal won, since you thought it was, too. Have I ever been less than nice to you?

There was no guarantee, by a long shot, that Djokovic was winning that final, had he been in it. I find it astonishing that Federer fans had so little faith in Roger that they'd have called for him to tank. IMO, that was the nadir of your fandom. And you've been some obnoxious SOBs over the years.

You are looking at it from the wrong angle. Feds loss in the final was 99.9% certain. Novaks chances were much better. Sure he might not have won it, but the inevitable happened when Fed decided he wanted to wag that finger. It would be ironic if he blew his GOAT status for that.

I am almost sure that Nadal was not beating Djokovic in the final. He was scared of Djokovic after a series of losses. He simply could not deal with psychological trauma that Djokovic inflicted on him. That was dumb by Federer. The silver lining for me is that Federer was the one who ended Djokovic's winning streak.

Ending the streak was a nice scalp for sure.
