dull was playing at 500% saving BPs left and right like his life depended on it. Bouncevic was playing at 80% so that's why it went 5 sets.

This is too much. It was a great match, a classic between the two. I thought Nadal played excellent and I disagree with all the crap that has been said about Novak. He played great too, perhaps a bit tentative here and there, but overall an epic match. Come to think of it, their matches rarely disappoint. This is a fantastic matchup, unlike the fedal one.

I think this win will lift up Novak's self confidence more and as a result of it he will not have those patches of tentative play like he had. He expects to win everything from now on, before Wimbledon he wasn't exactly sure where he was.

It's ridiculous that someone can expect to win everything. Let's go to see how the next season is going but I can say this (I'm not the only one) after some circumstances Wimbledon final result is far to see of who is going to dominer the next seasons

I'm not trying to denigrate Nole's win, at all, but I honestly don't think it was one of their best. After the long first game in the 2nd when Novak didn't break, he went a bit flat. Rafa was the better player in the 2nd and 3rd, but good on Djokovic for steeling himself and taking that TB. When they came back Sat., though, I though neither man was at his best. I thought they were both a bit tentative. Anyway, a great win for your man, and then, of course, the big crown. He's back, and I'm happy for you. I do think the Fedal matchup is a great one, too, because of the contrast in styles and the long-term stakes, but, to each her own. ;)

It definitely was not a classic. Neither sustained a great level of play. Nadal was the steadier of the two throughout the match, and Novak it felt like he hung in there until he realized oh I’m going to have to step it up if I want to win.

sorry but I completely disagree. The level was as low as I've ever seen in a contest between these two. It's clear to me now that the moment it becomes a long 5 setter these commentators go overboard praising the match. Sometimes the entertainment might be high, but the level/ quality of the tennis is low. I still have to blink to remind myself Rafa actually lost this match
Federerberg. I challenge you to name 10 better 5 setters at a grand slam over the past 2 years ..you're on the clock now Pal

That's a ridiculous challenge, as 10 over 2 years is a big ask. Especially since Djokovic has been out of the game for 2 years. You've kind of bent it in your favor...5 in 2 years would have been a more fair challenge, probably. Easily Nadal v del Potro at this Wimbledon was much better. That's one. Fed d. Nadal 2017 AO final is another. Nadal d. Dimitrov 2017 AO SF. Fed. d. Wawrinka 2017 AO SF. And Federer v. Cilic at the AO final was better than this one. That's 5, and I think it's enough.

No..not really..Federerberg pretty much stated the match was underwhelming..Please let him migrate his way through this..no one made him say such a ridiculous remark..So in essence the challenge isn’t asinine but it’s gonna force him to eat some crow..So let him try but stay out of it,,Federerberg is a big boy..he will either comply or be forced to eat crow.

I've also said it was underwhelming and I've given you 5 that were better in the last 2 years. You could acknowledge that.

happy to. But you're a bit vague in your specifications. My contention is that the level of play was poor. When you say "better" are you talking about level or entertainment? I don't think anyone here has suggested the match wasn't gripping and suspenseful. We're all tennis heads here, or at least most of us are anyway, we all know what Novak and Rafa are capable of. The level of play in this match was woeful. Get back to me with a precise answer mate :)

Fed Cilic final? God save us all. Fed Wawrinka I disagree with as well. Fed Nadal AO final I give you that one. I wouldn't say easily, but Nadal v Del Potro was comparable, perhaps better if not for DP messing up the fifth set (granted it did provide for some good fighting at the end). Nadal Dimitrov meh. I can see you liked it from the perspective of a Nadal fan and it was a great match, but it was Dimitrov.

I seem to recall you admitting you didn't even watch the match live. This isn't about fandom mate. You've surely seen me state that Federer stole last years Wimbledon title. There's nothing wrong with admitting that the level was terrible on Saturday. I don't understand the need for bias

Pot kettle.

If you read my post you will see that I have rated several non Djokovic matches above the Friday/Saturday match. You seem to inexplicably be defending the Cilic Federer match as a Fed fan.

Great match, horrific level on Saturday. You can have both. They both played about 10 times better Friday

I never mentioned the Cilic Federer match. If you're talking about the AO final this year, then while not a great match it was certainly played at a higher level than this one. The Wimbledon final last year was a joke and is obviously not worthy of discussion. I don't even understand how we're having a debate about this. Did you watch Novak's play? Anyway... you know what? Congrats to Novak. I really don't care enough to generate paragraphs. Have it your way. It's your time and I shouldn't be getting in your way while you celebrate

Relax, we are all entitled to our opinions of matches and debate them. It's subjective to an extent and arguments are made to convince the other. I don't particularly like the Cilic Fed matchup, too serve focussed in my view. And the AO final in the end played out as expected, nothing too thrilling except Cilic hanging in there for four sets. It was a good match, but I consider this Friday/Saturday's match more exciting and eventful, in addition to some really good tennis. Yes, I love the Nadal/Djokovic matchup, it's a battle for every point. I would pick Nadal's US Open wins over Djokovic over that Fed/Cilic semifinal for that reason, even if they only went to four sets.

Lol! You're funny mate. I tell you I really don't care about this then you tell me to relax? Ok.....

Now you're confusing me. If you're talking about entertainment, then I would probably agree that the Nadal Djoker match was more suspenseful and interesting. But my view point is based solely on the quality of the tennis. If you're going to tell me that you think the quality of the tennis played on Saturday was up to scratch then that's fine. It'll tell me a lot about either your knowledge of tennis or the actual attention you paid to the play. Either way... your view and you're welcome to it :)
