Do all the complaining you like, and you will, but no one gifted Nadal two Wimbledon wins. If Rafa were as unsuited to grass as you say, even your "fake-grass," then any number of players could have won and he wouldn't have. He's been plenty good on grass.

I complain despite Roger having 8, that should say it all. I would complain about it if he finished with 10 because it is fake grass, the outlier (like Madrid) compared to every other tournament on grass. And that has hurt Roger and greatly helped Rafa and Novak not to mention it's helped kill surface variety.

Let's be clear...it's not "fake-grass," it is actual grass. Not astro-turf. It's a natural surface, given to different bounces, and susceptible to the changes in the weather. And Roger has played on this same grass most of his career. So, if he's the GOAT on grass, and the GOAT overall, why would he have such problems with this grass? Hasn't it been more the competition?

It was the surface variety in my day that made Borg more great than any of these clowns today! He did it all with a wood racket and courts of all persuasions making his defensive, back court style all the more admirable! He was a tennis GOD and that's the reason he'll reign along with any of them; even if they have twice as many majors! He did it the old fashioned way; HE REALLY EARNED IT! :yesyes: :p

What Borg did was outstanding. He could easily transition from slow clay to lightning fast grass, showing how versatile he was. Now it is difficult to tell how adaptable players are because all grand slam surfaces play almost the same.

this is why I've always argued that Borg deserves a lot more respect

let me get this one straight, Rafa was gifted his titles but Novak and Borg earned their titles. Really. How many semi-finals and finals appearances have Rafa, Borg and Novak made? Or are we gonna just punish Nadal for his early round exits..Please let me know which rules we are playing by. I am quite confident i know the truth..Even if Rafa won the match vs Novak and went on to wipe the court with KA, the D word which i am tired of using would be in full effect as usual.

Darth has actually said that Rafa played better than Novak. The roof helped Novak. If that weren't true, he'd have asked for it to be opened on Day 2. But I really do think that Rafa missed chances he wouldn't normally miss. Novak basically stole the 3rd set from him. He never should have let that happen. That was mental, IMO. And after winning the 4th in such a fashion, he should have run away with the 5th, and didn't.
"Darth actually said Rafa played better than Novak'..isn't that the same as Trump was pnce a Clintons supporter ..

From Tignor..

"We might call Djokovic’s 6-4, 3-6, 7-6 (9), 3-6, 10-8 win their Third Epic. As far as level of play and entertainment value per point, this one was likely the best of all. The degree of difficulty was also the highest, as Nadal and Djokovic had to wait six hours for Kevin Anderson to beat John Isner in the first semifinal on Friday; they had to play with a curfew encroaching on Friday night; and they had to come back out and rev it up again 14 hours later on Saturday."

I've heard similar from other commentators. What are they on? The level wasn't great at all..

You're being stubborn here. Roger hasn't had tons of problems on Wimbledon grass, but you've seen him enough to know he's deadlier the faster and lower the bounce is. The Wimbledon grass compared to tournaments like Halle and Stuttgart play much more to his rivals' liking.

But this time it’s really on roger, he should have closed the match out...period. He has done this way more than the other big 4 members...how many times have they lost matches from being 2 sets/match points up?

No doubt about that, this one was all on him. He's had too many similar losses to this one.

This match was terrible in quality. What match were these commentators watching? The tension was there, but little else was there.

sorry but I completely disagree. The level was as low as I've ever seen in a contest between these two. It's clear to me now that the moment it becomes a long 5 setter these commentators go overboard praising the match. Sometimes the entertainment might be high, but the level/ quality of the tennis is low. I still have to blink to remind myself Rafa actually lost this match

This. Friday was better than Saturday, but Sat. was not good. A lot of nerves from Rafa and flatness from Novak. Far from their most thrilling match, I agree.

This is too much. It was a great match, a classic between the two. I thought Nadal played excellent and I disagree with all the crap that has been said about Novak. He played great too, perhaps a bit tentative here and there, but overall an epic match. Come to think of it, their matches rarely disappoint. This is a fantastic matchup, unlike the fedal one.

Fakervic - dull and Fed - fakervic are the two best matchups depending on your style preference. My personal favourite is Federer fakervic pre 2014 matchups when Fed had a decent forehand.

But unfortunately after Fed changed his racquet and thus lost his GOAT FH, Fed fakervic became one sided.

Nadal played better than most people expected on grass in this tournament and he did have chances to win against Djokovic. I was impressed by Nadal's performance. However, people are forgetting that Djokovic had more chances to break Rafa, even though his returning was sub-par. This match could have been over in three sets if Djokovic had returned serve well. I don't know how many people thought the match would have gone to 5 sets after the first set, which Djokovic dominated.
