Stats look pretty even for the set.

Funnily enough, they both won a greater percentage of points on second than on first serve.

Fed's Winner-UE 11-13 doesn't look that great. Hopefully he'll tidy up a bit.

First serve % a bit low perhaps on 59%.

Nothing much negative stands out for Stan's stat I would say (except the scoreline). Only 3/9 at the net, but then I don't expect him to dominate there. Fed is 12/17 at the net.

I don't get it. They are both so bad. It's like who wants to win less. Too many unforced errors from the baseline, cheap ones too. Especially from Roger. You expect Stan to hit a few loose shots here and there. Hopefully Fed will start playing better and let us see a few vintage points. I can't believe how nervous he is.
Roger breaks again as I am writing this. This is it probably.

A bit of loose play by Stan brings up two break points, and Fed takes the second to lead 4-2.

Are you watching a different match? I agree Roger's not as clean as he was e.g. against Berdych, but there is plenty of beautiful and amazing play by both men IMHO.

There were good plays but Roger is too nervous. Too many errors. If he played like he did against Berdych it would have been 6:2 6:2 probably. He is now playing much better, let's see how the third plays out.

I honestly have no idea what you are watching. Yes a few more UE especially from the back hand of Federer, but still a more than solid match so far. The play from Berd match was insane. Can't expect a level like that for every match.

And there it is 2-0 in sets to Fed.

Roger holds to love to take a two-set lead. He's looked sharper in this set; if he keeps it up, he should get this done in straight sets. But it's dangerous to count Stan out, so let's wait and see.

In both sets, Waw leads Fed in the differential, by just a tiny margin.

Yeah, I really am expecting too high of a level. Fed is more than just decent today. He hit some beautiful winners form both wings.

Roger plays a loose game and stan breaks first in 3rd set. But, it is early and I expect Fed to break back.

Looks as though Fed has let Stan's injury problems get into his head. Suddenly Wawrinka is 0-40 up, and breaks to 15. Roger trails 1-3 in the third set.

Roger has lost all focus. He gets broken again and Wawrinka leads 5-1, serving for the set.

This reminds me of when Stan won his AO against Nadal. Rafa got injured and started hitting freely, and took a set then as I recall.

I hope Roger regroups and refocuses in the fourth.

Stan has some knee issues and as a result perhaps feel that he cannot move a lot (but he is moving good) and as a result swinging for fences. But, the beauty is that the swinging for the fences works.

Also, Fed's error count is increasing.

Rog had -2, -1 and -5 in differential in the first three sets, compared to +1, +3 and +2 by Stan.

Stan breaks Fed in the opening game of 4th set.

It is now getting into dangerous territories.
