You know, what, I'll bite. Let's analyze my post, sentence by sentence and see where I took "such an offensive":

this is to highlight that Novak has an easy draw as Goffin is the highest ranked player in his section while Rafa's form indicates he might not even make the QF, and even if he does, his chances of beating Novak are minimal.

So...what exactly did you take issue with? And please, let's not play the "tell us how you really feel" game because I don't want to have to point out how sensitive you are, or how you act like a giant baby every time someone isn't complimentary of Nadal, or how you've thrown these random out of the blue fits at least a dozen times since the old forums and have directed them at me, nehmeth and others before. Let's also not point out how much of a delusional fanboy you can be.

And that's how I really feel.

I disagree.. Yes, I am a Rafa fan but not as delusional of a so call "fanboy " as you say. I have probably been one of the most critical Rafa fans of his current level of play, I think its fair to say that. You have me confused as for as saying that when someone is complimentary of Nadal. What does my past battles with Nehmeth and you have to do with the price of tea in China, although those battles were warranted. The huge difference is although Nehmeth and I have spared , just like Nehmeth has spared with Moxie and others lately and on the old forums, Nehmeth is Man enough to admit he is wrong at times.(that's as far as I will go because I this isn'tabout him.). I have stated times when I was wrong. You on the other hand have Never admitted that you are ever Wrong. Eg. for you to bring up the past shows that you continued to have animosity towards me which is fine because I can take it. I am built that way. If you post something that is not accurate, I will challenge you and not one who is afraid of your pitbull mentality. Speaking of Nehmeth, I think he recently address that issue with you. My answers to your reply is in line below.

First sentence: "Novak has reached the US Open final 4 out of the last 5 times. That's a very good record of reaching the final, which I'm predicting will happen (hardly a balsy prediction, mind you)."

This sentence simply points out Novak's record at the US Open for the past 5 years, and articulates my prediction that he will reach the final -- a prediction I even admitted is not exactly the most courageous in the world.
AP All I said that you feel that Novak will Place( you are not saying that he will win but will be in the final. Djoker may make the finals but what will anyone ever remember, Did he bring home the championship title. He has won the title twice but lost 4 or 5 times. You think that is a good record for the person who is called the best hardcourt player in the world. Yes, his record at Cincinnati is beyond horrific but it happens. Eg. Rafa's record at the Austrialian Open is pretty much on par with Djoker's at the AO, Pedestrian.

Second sentence: "And the guys he's lost to at the US Open since 2007 have been Federer, Federer, Federer, Nadal, Murray, Nadal and Nishikori."

This one simply names the guys Novak has lost to.

Third sentence: " OK, that last one isn't like the 3 others before him, but he's only losing to the absolute elite for the most part. "

This one starts out by admitting that Nishikori is not exactly Federer, Nadal or Murray, and therefore, that loss wasn't Novak's finest hour, but that for the most part, he only lost to his 3 main rivals.

Final sentence: "Safe to say he won't be losing to Goffin or washed up Rafa who might not even make it there to begin with."

AP If you feel that Goffin is not going to give him a challenge at the US Open although we all observed that wasn't the case in Cincy. So you are calling Rafa washed up,Well , coming from you, that really defining you as a "fair weather fan". I would think that pretty much being called worst than your favorite term that you called me a "fanboy"

Clearly, this is to highlight that Novak has an easy draw as Goffin is the highest ranked player in his section while Rafa's form indicates he might not even make the QF, and even if he does, his chances of beating Novak are minimal.

AP Rafa chances are not good but its a helluva lot better than his efforts at RG or SW19 because his confidence is growing and he "knows" how to defeat Novak at US Open.

AP, As for how you feel, As I said before, you are not able to move forward if you have been challenge in the past unfairly as you may have deemed. That's the difference between you and the rest of Us(the other posters). There is no need to hold a grudge. Really, if you look what I post earlier, there was no need for all of this. It becomes as I dare to say, almost a Cali like reply from you. That not a compliment. That's truly how I feel. Btw.. You forgot to mentioned that I was the one who was delusional to believe that Rafa needed to "flatten out his serve and forehands"

The hell are you talking about? I said Novak will place, you said he might not (fair) because of his US Open record, I pointed out that his US Open record isn't that bad (so far, is any of this inaccurate?)...and for some reason that triggered a response in which you said "I took offensive" (the word you're looking for is offense, by the way). Again, I ask you, what part of me highlighting how Novak has for the most part, only lost to the elite at the US Open recently constitutes me taking offense to what you said? You also said I'm condescending and brought up "likes," which seem to mean a lot to you.

Only after you made that post and said I'm condescending or whatever did I personally explain what a baby you are.

And what does me being wrong have anything to do with this? I'm factually right about this. I predicted he'll reach the final, you said he might not because his record at the US Open isn't good, only my prediction was that he'll reach the final, and his record as far as reaching the finals go, is stellar. So yeah, I'm actually right about his record on the road to the final being good.

I said you're delusional re: Rafa's forehand back in 2011. Because back then you were claiming Rafa will figure out Novak that year, and predicting he would beat him in pretty much all of their meetings, and guess what, every time you were wrong and I was right, because last I checked, Novak beat him 7 straight times. So yeah, I wouldn't bring that up if I were you.

okay genius, Can you post Rafa results back in 2012 and 2013 vs Djoker.. How many times in a row that Rafa defeat him.. as for being Right.. you didn't say a damn thing when you were Wrong in 2012 2013 season.. post those results genius

Who needs the USO title more?

Djokovic: going for 10th Slam, 3rd this year, 2nd USO title.

Federer: Looking for 18th Slam, on a 3-year drought for a major title.

Nadal: Streak of 10 straight years with a slam is in jeopardy, looking for 15th slam, 4th HC slam, chance to really move back up in the rankings.

Murray: Still looking for Slam No. 3, After a year of a AO final, two Masters, 4 titles and a win over Djokovic, needs a Slam to finish the comeback.

CNfeUOiUsAISfrB.jpg

Of the players named, Murray needs it most, followed by Rafa, followed by Novak, followed by Roger. Roger doesn't need any more slam titles, 17 seems fairly inflated as it is. Murray needs it most: he's fallen away since Wimbledon 2013, then his back op after that year's US Open. The effect of the back op was that he fell behind the players he was competing with, and beating, with great confidence before it. Novak went on a tear against him, and Roger dumped him out of Oz 2014, and recently it's getting embarrassing for Murray when he plays Roger.

So Andy needs a shot in the arm here, more than Rafa, who will still work hard to get back, regardless of what happens in Flushing Meadows. Rafa has made his legacy, but Andy hasn't. Nole comes next, because he's trying to make hay while the sun is shining. This is my take on it, anyway.

But there's another player missing: A. N. Other, who represents the Field, like Cilic did last year, and he needs it even more than Andy...

Murray needs it more to keep his name in the big 4 conversation because Stan is still charging. Rafa next, Djoker is 3rd and Fed has the lead at 17, he is aight

okay genius, Can you post Rafa results back in 2012 and 2013 vs Djoker.. How many times in a row that Rafa defeat him.. as for being Right.. you didn't say a damn thing when you were Wrong in 2012 2013 season.. post those results genius

The funniest thing about you calling me a genius is when you utterly and stupidly miss the point.

You brought up me calling you delusional re: Rafa vs. Novak. Except, within context, I did that in 2011, when you kept insisting Rafa will win each match even though he was getting his ass handed to him.

As far as 2012 and 2013, I was wrong about Monte Carlo 2012 (predicted Novak will win) and Roland Garros 2013.

The difference is, my predictions are based on something. Yours are based on the fact that you're a delusional Nadal fanboy who will pick him to win every single match based on nothing other than the fact that you're a Nadal fanboy.

This is all irrelevant, and as evidenced by this post, and the one you posted on the next page, you sidestepped my question: What part of me pointing out Novak's record re: US Open final appearances is me "taking offensive"?

The answer, that you conveniently wussied out of giving: None. That didn't stop you from crying like a baby for some inexplicable reason. Yes, I belittled you because you randomly decided to call me condescending and aggressive even though all I had done was disagree with you, quite politely I might add. So, I responded in kind, true to my condescending self, and explained how your tennis knowledge is blinded by extreme fanboyism which prevents your opinion about anything relating to Nadal from being taken seriously.

Oh, and since you want to talk about being wrong, remember when you were hellbent on blaming uncle Toni in 2011 and wanted him removed or needed a "new voice"? Yeah, how did that turn out? Seriously, that was your level of analysis. Let's not go there A-P, for your sake.

Yes Roger is at 17 slams, but he hasn't won one for 3 YEARS. He needs to win a slam soon to prove that he's still able to win the big ones. Honestly, Djoker has the least to prove. He's had an amazing year, already at 2 slams and still nr.1 by a long shot.

Murray needs it the most though, while Rafa won't get past QF, so that doesn't really matter :p

Novak needs the US Open the most, followed by Murray. Novak is the best player in the world, and he was having a year that had many draw comparisons to his 2011 form. Well, if he doesn't, it would have been a year of greatness but also a year of missed opportunities (RG being the big one, but this wouldn't be too far behind, as it is hard courts after all. Not to mention he has a cakewalk draw, and so many players are injured and/or out of form, including historically, his toughest rival). You need every slam you can get when you're in your prime, especially when you're in your late 20's and have already have had so many missed opportunities.

Murray is second because he has managed to recapture his form this year, and yet, if he doesn't win this, it would be all for relatively nothing.

Nadal obviously needs any victory to regain his confidence, let alone a major, but realistically, given that the expectations are literally at their all time lowest, a loss would do nothing but confirm that he's having a terrible year, something everyone is aware of already. So Rafa can just regroup and focus on the rest of the season and more importantly, next year.

Federer has 17 slams. He doesn't need anything, but the window of winning majors is running out, and he is in great form so expectations are higher than they had been in a while.

So in order, I'd say:
1-Novak
2-Murray
3-Nadal
4-Federer.

lol at that 1st rd tie. nick k. vs murray, this is what happens with kygrios only playing big tourneys and not focussing on rank points in smaller events to get his rank up..

nick is unseeded when really he should be top 30, if only he'd played more, and now he's got murray, i'll wager andy is not too thrilled either.

Well if you think of it in terms of winning the us open in particular I would say Djokovic cause he lost 4 finals and only won 1.

Well if you think of it in terms of winning the us open in particular I would say Djokovic cause he lost 4 finals and only won 1.

It's a tough call. I would say everybody but Fed has something to prove (IMO for fed, more slams is just gravy. I think he is pretty happy competing at the highest level in general). In the off-chance Rafa actually won, I think it would mean the most for him as he has been so terrible by his standards, but losing for him would be more of the same this year. Novak it means a lot, but no matter what this season is solidified as great, so winning the open is more about where it will rank among great seasons. For Andy it means a lot too, as it means he is back to the 2012-13 form and not pre-2012 form.

So maybe:

Andy
Novak
Rafa (most upside but lowest downside)
Fed

Roger needs it most. He is running out of time and hasn't won one in 3 years. 17 isn't safe and it also isn't where he should end up, he left a lot on the table in 5th set failures and could start canceling them out by winning one or two as a geriatric.

Roger needs it most. He is running out of time and hasn't won one in 3 years. 17 isn't safe and it also isn't where he should end up, he left a lot on the table in 5th set failures and could start canceling them out by winning one or two as a geriatric.

This is true; esp. those Wimbledons! The FO's could be overlooked since Nadal was there each time, "running game" on Federer and others along the way! I won't even bring up those 2 USO semi's against Nole w/ multiple MP's! :cover :nono

I hear you from a fan perspective, but I think Roger (the actual person) is probably a bit more comfortable with himself and what he has achieved. I don't think 18 vs. 17 means that much to him (although of course he would be incredibly happy to win).

LOL! I like Kieran's assessment, but the jewel in that is his saying Roger's 17 slams "seems fairly inflated as it is." Only the Dubliner could come up with that one! :)

If you look at how happy he was for winning Cincinnati. And just look how shaky he was in the Wimbledon finals, because I think that's his ultimate goal, getting another slam, and especially Wimbledon. He has fun playing in general no doubt, but I think that's what really makes him go even further. He wants a few more slams (maybe even getting the magical 20?) before he pulls back.

They're replaying '11 USO again on ESPN Classic! I turned over just in time to see Nadal running game again after 3 games of the 2nd set; left the court after a particularly long service game (15 min.) and made NOLE wait! All he could do was raise his arms imploring to the umpire, "WTF?" ;-) Luckily it didn't work and was made into a really tough year for Nadal where he was a perpetual runner-up in 1000's and 3 other majors through '12 AO to Djokovic! Roger should have such a recent record against his "so called" rival! Hard to call it that with such a losing record against Rafa! ;-(

How come Cali or anyone else has not yet started a thread yet titled "there is a reason why Novak has won only one USO so far"?

Tignor rolled the dice and doomed Novak.

I think Tignor hot it correct once though: Wimbledon?
