I am saying upset alert. Obviously smart money is on Andy, but I would not be surprised by an upset.

:-/ Really? I would be surprised - and I'm interested to read why you wouldn't be.

I think Murray will hold true to form and clean Nick's clock in straight sets.. too bad Seppi ran out of gas

Main reason is I still don't trust Murray to perform that well in big moments, which he hasn't done since coming back. I still said I would bet on Murray, but I think Kyrgios will at least not be intimidated, and I don't trust Murray anymore.

My main concern with Nick at the moment that he tends to lose focus and concentration, okay he is only 19 years of age, still Pat Rafter and John Newcombe have both commented that is a part of his game he needs to address asap.Leading up to this match with Murray,Nick has been seen out and about at the Australian Open, giving a lot of his time to fans, doing selfies etc, which in ways is a good thing, still he has a important match coming up,I would think his coach would have told him to take a quieter approach to this match.I also hope he dosent play the role of a 'showman' in this match as well,he can tend to do that,to me that is another bad example of how he loses focus on points during a match.

^ I would also like to add,Nick can count himself lucky in his match against Seppi that he didnt get a code violation call against for,

1. Smashing his racquet

2. Use of four letter words, which was clearly heard. This has been discussed on our sports radio here in Sydney and also has been discussed on our talk back radio programs here in Sydney.Quite frankly I find it disgusting.Remember there are young children attending these matches at the Australian Open,Nick has to control his mouth period.

Murray was shouting of few of his own during the game. I'm sure we'll hear a few more if Krygios starts winning! Go...what's the going nickname for him right now?

I have also been live at Murray matches, yes a few years ago when I attended live the mens final at the AO he did use four letter words, again I find that disgusting.I must say when Lendl came on board he did cut that out, which I am glad to see happen

My final advice to Nick,

Please remember win or lose, shake the umpire's hand, something you failed to do in your match against Seppi.

Nick has a explosive game,I have followed him since his junior days, then I could see the potential in him as a player,I dont want to see this kind of behavior in Nick, that is why my favorite Aussie player is Pat Rafter who has always been a gentleman on and off the court.

Not only is such behavior inappropriate, it's counterproductive. They need to channel that energy into something positive, and learn to let things go and stay in the moment.

Roger and Rafa are masters of focusing on the now, and not letting something unfortunate derail their matches. (OK, I know they're not perfect, but there's no question they're the best at this.)

Roger was famously hot-headed as a junior, then learned to control his emotions. The results speak for themselves. Even with all of his raw talent, would he have achieved everything he's done if he were still incapable of controlling his emotions? We'll never know for sure, of course, but I doubt it. And every commentator I've ever heard has addressed Rafa's ability to forget what just happened, and move forward.

Yes, Lendl was a huge help, but I sense Murray sliding backwards. As for Nick ... well, anyone who's uncertain can watch the replay. ;)

The problem for Murray post-surgery hasn't been these types of matches though, really. He had some silly losses last year to people like Florian Mayer and Santiago Giraldo but in the big tournaments, especially in the second half of the year, he still tended to be fine against people he was expected to beat.

Andy's main issue that remained unresolved at the end of the year was his terrible record throughout the season against Nole, Roger and Rafa, who between them knocked him out of three of the four slams, partially the World Tour Finals, and (off the top of my head), four of the eight Masters events he took part in. Even the other losses in big tournaments came to Dimitrov at Wimbledon, Raonic in Indian Wells, Tsonga in Canada who eventually won the tournament, Ferrer in Shanghai. The only REAL stinker was the Giraldo loss in Madrid.

If anything, Murray has proven himself to still be more trustworthy than pretty much all the other big names, apart from Djokovic, when it comes to facing "lesser" opposition in the majors. You might make an argument that if you focus on non-Wimbledon slams then a fully fit Nadal is equally/more reliable against the lesser players. But the point is that Andy is in his 16th(?) consecutive Grand Slam quarter-final now so while I understand there are still question marks over his form I do think it's odd to have particular doubt over his ability to deal with someone like Kyrgios because you don't trust him to win when he's the favourite, as this implies he has a recent tendency to mess these matches up.

And that's not to say there are no reasons to doubt the outcome of this match. As I've said, if Nick gets a good start, settles down, nicks an early lead, gets the crowd up, he's not the kind of kid to get scared and trip himself up.

This post has turned into a bit of an essay - just trying to be as clear as I can :) .

I'll be in work by the time this is on tomorrow and I'm off to bed now so good luck Andy!

So, Eurosport is promoting this match like crazy, because I guess on British Eurosport Murray's last match was watched by 500k people or whatever. That's great. But am I the only one who doesn't think this is going to be that great of a match. Maybe I'm wrong. Kyrgios has got game and personality that his Aussie fans love to pump up. AND I haven't seen Murray in action so I don't know how well he's playing, though I can read and so I do know that until Dimitrov he hadn't dropped a set. Just doesn't seem like that big of a match to me. Murray is a returner. He will neutralize the Kyrgios serve. It is indeed huge. But this ain't Wimbledon.

All the Aussie Legends are giving their thoughts on Nick and his game before this match has started

Rod Laver said he has a explosive game, has good potential,I dont take much notice of Pat Cash at all,he would have to be my unfavorite Aussie of all time:)

John Newcombe says he has untapped potential

My commies for this match are Lletyon Hewitt,Jim Courier

John Newcombe feels that Nick has to win the 1st set to have some kind of chance

Thank goodness one of my favorite umpires Carlos Ramos is on this match
Carlos will not tolerate any breaking of rules, example Swearing,Racquet Smashes, also he enforces the time rule.
