Well, yes.. If you played competitely at a high level, you dont say that Roger dislikes Rafa or whomever because he has lost close matches to him.. that not how things work.. Is that clear to you now

Wrong. Connors never liked McEnroe and Sampras and Agassi still don't like each other. And I am pretty sure they did play competitive sport at a high level. So maybe Fiero did too... and maybe you could ask first?

Nehmeth, You really are a piece of work at times.. You say Connors never liked McEnroe, I dont think that is true. Connors, McEnroe, Vitas and Borg all was party buddies in the late 70's and early 80s. Vitas was the glue. Yeah , they were enemies on the court, that happen all the time .I never saw that Connors Ever said he didnt respect McEnroe.. As for if Fiero ever played competively or etc.. let that person speak for themselves.. I did say "probably", I am not sure but it doesnt sounds like this person did

I'm not sure where you get that Connors and Mac used to hang out. Interesting if true, but not what I've heard when Mac talks about that relationship. They definitely respected each other on court, but there was no love lost!

Connors never liked McEnroe and if you read his book he was aloof from most of the tour. He got on with Vitas and Nastase. The only thing he had in common with McEnroe was a mutual friend (Vitas) - that doesn't mean they hung around together as the T-Birds of Studio 54. Mac went out with Vitas and Borg in a group a few times but I think this was mainly after Borg had retired. Vitas got on with pretty much everyone by all accounts.

Lol! Are you being deliberately obtuse? This is the wrong forum for it. I invite you to retract the comment of yours that I highlighted. Or accept the challenge we've put in front of you :lolz:

Perhaps.. but you still haven't dealt with your error. Even if that was all you were trying to say. That's not what you said. Everyone else can see it why can't you? :D

Pushy, you are a piece of work sometimes... Connors and McEnroe never liked each other, they didn't party together. That's what you went after me about at the beginning. Doesn't matter if Vitas and Connors hung out... that doesn't mean a thing.

Play to win.

If I were a tennis player and thought a back rub would help me win even if I didn't need it, I'd take it. Why not? I love winning and I love massages.

It's neither nice nor ethical, and would probably irritate the hell out of me if my opponent did it to me. But we're all hypocrites/selfish like that, let's not even act otherwise.

Let's drop the holier than thou attitude. It pisses me off in tennis. These guys are playing for millions, legacies, ego, etc...

Here's a great article by former Manchester United defender tackling the subject of a currently controversial player: Diego Costa. It's quite revealing regarding the attitude of a winner and his competitive drive (FYI, I think Gary Neville is a c*nt, but that's besides the point).

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/chelsea/11379981/Diego-Costa-is-a-monster-thats-why-I-love-him.html

Maybe this post belongs in my "controversial opinions" thread but I feel after years of sitting through these debates here, it's time I finally let out what everyone secretly thinks...unless Darth would be disgusted by Roger having a questionable medical timeout that ultimately helps him win a grand slam title. No, he wouldn't care, nor should he. I'm not advocating this and saying everyone should do it, but I'm saying I understand it when they do, and likely would have done the same.
