good old rafa..moaning again. rafa never fails to raise a chuckle with his comments.

little wafa is an unintentional one man comedy quote machine.

old Rafa? moaning again? really? I would love to see you playing with 100 degrees.......:laydownlaughing
Hey, they are a human been and not a robots, he has all the right to complain about the heat

I thought this event was indoors

No, no. Rio is not indoors. There is only one indoor clay tourney in the ATP calendar.
That is the world's best clay tourney conducted in mrzz's twon.

do not be so silly. that is not relevant. i am not a professional sportsman, if i was a pro tennis player and i'd chosen to play in a hot country like rafa has i would not moan about normal local weather conditions as soon as i had stepped off the plane.

what was he expecting in a tropical/sub tropical country ?. snowdrifts ?. ice forming on rivers ?. a bit of slightly chilly drizzle ?. freezing fog ?.

So do you mean that he can't say it's too hot in Rio? then you should check what all the players say last year in RG and also in AO about the heat, it doesn't matter the kind of tournament, GS, MS or 500. Why do you think that Miami tournament is played in March and not in summer?
Rafa wants to play in Rio because he needs more matches to be fitted but it doesn't mean he can't give his opinion about the heat ot the could or whatever

He never really did well there for quite some time so it makes perfect sense to skip it. Overplaying at 33 would be dense.

yes. and no I don't want to. and Miami is subtropical. go sit in a black bin liner inside a tar covered wigwam for the duration of the Miami masters and find out about so-called march cold. innit.

Intriguing... I was looking at ATP match stats, and stumbled on something that surprised me.

Win percentages after losing the 1st set:

Roger Federer : 41.8% ; 275 matches
Novak Djokovic : 40.5% 195 matches
Rafael Nadal : 44.7% ; 197 matches
Andy Murray : 40.1% ; 202 matches

Am I the only one that assumed that Novak's record would be better than Rogers? And when you consider how much bigger the sample is for Federer... We can all get caught up in a narrative, even if the stats don't support it in reality

I am just curious if he will be able to play continuously a few months in a row.

^ Likewise. Unfortunately he's had quite a few injuries already at just 19 which doesn't bode too well.
