According to itftennis, OG 2016 will be played on hard court. Strange choice since Rio hosts the tourney, I 'ld have bet on clay. Manacor's bull must be furious !!

Old news but yeah, hard courts it is. Btw he was actually more convincing in hard season last year than on clay.

True, and he won gold medal on hard too. It's his last OG so maybe will he be very motivated ??

For many players. Roger included will be their last shot. Rafa at least got one already.

You have to think Djokovic will be going all out too. And he must be very happy with the HC decision.

Unless Rafa would be again out of the court for a while I don't think he would have any problem to play the OG on HC, he has won one Olympic Medal, 2 USO and one AO plus multiples MS on that surface

Like this article says 'The best is yet to come' :clap

ATP is investigating as to whether Malek Zahiri intentionally threw a match away to avoid

Didn't that match happen like 2 years ago?

No, that is different. That one he did not even play as Tunisia's tennis federation forbid him.
This one happened last week. He won the first set and then quit a match. Had he won, he
would be required to play an Israeli. However, many say it is real injury this time.

Ah ok hope it's not true. Kind of a silly reason for match fixing.

If it's true - and it will be impossible to prove, because he may feign an injury and get a friendly sick note - but if it's true, he should be shamed and banned...

From what I've read, it seems like the Tunisia tennis bigwigs are ordering him not to play. I don't know what Zahin's personal feelings about the situation is but it seems like he has to comply. But that's just from what I read. Maybe there is something out there that says otherwise but a sad situation either way. So much hatred in that region of the world.

If the Tunisian tennis bigwigs are hassling him not to play, they should be sanctioned roughly. Tennis players shouldn't be dragged into any of this kind of thing...

Yes, that is right. It is not so much Malek's fault. It is usually the tennis Federation of
Tunisia asking him to do things. ATP apparently checked with them and they choose not
to reply to ATP.

Smart. One should not rush back after such a surgery. Better recover and do a proper rehab.
