JJ is just a turd... another hyped player without the technical skills (or brain function) to be a top player.

He was hyped as a "Safin-type," and, sadly, he's even worse than a "Safin-lite," it seems. (And I'm guilty of hoping he had the chops.) If he hasn't got as much game, AND his head's at least as bad, or worse than the "Original Big Man's," well, that's not really a formula for success. For the disaster that he could be, Safin won 2 Majors. If JJ turned himself into a choirboy at this point, and committed himself completely, I'd still be astonished if he'd win one. But that's what it's going to take to make something interesting out of his career.

Marat's groundstrokes were a thing of beauty when he was on. Technically, JJ needs a lot of work and will still never approach what Marat could do.

Credit to Raonic, at least one of the giants is doing everything possible to become a real contender. For now JJ remains a pretender...

Agreed. And good for you for giving Raonic the kudos. I know you're not a fan, but he has been putting in the work, and it's paying off. I'm always going to admire a player who puts in the hard work to make the most of his/her gifts…(David Ferrer being the most obvious example.) I'm not especially a fan of those who coast on their "talent." (Well, except for Marat. :snigger ) But Safin was Safin, and JJ is no Safin.

Here is the OOP for Tuesday. All the remaining 13 first round matches (including the repeat of
Bogota final and Washington DC semifinal) and 2 second round matches of the two swiss blokes
are scheduled. But, the one I am looking forward to is the match between Stepanek and
Monfils. Both have distinct personalities and have not played each other for almost three
years now. Their H2H is almost evenly poised with a slight edge Monf 5-3. This match becomes
further interesting, if you consider the fact that the winner of the match will be the one
who takes out a certain new groom tomorrow.

Isner loses another opener. At this rate, Isner may be the freshest of all going into
US Open despite playing five weeks in a row.

Polansky was a promising teenager, about 10 years ago and it did not quite pan out. JJ has no business losing to him but here we are. This is his 8th. or 9th. firs round loss this year I believe.

Never liked JJ and I do not think I ever will.

Polansky has a date with Roger tonight.

It will be rain on and off all day. Frustrating for players for sure.

10 losses in his first match out of 16 tournaments apparently.

He's not a very likeable man, when he's playing well he can be good to watch but his yelling and sulking and general demeanor aren't too endearing.

Hopefully the rain isn't too bad, there's some good matches scheduled today and they're already behind from yesterday. It's meant to be August :( .

It has been a rainy summer here and colder than usual. The problem is (just listened to the forecast) we will have rains on and off 2 more days, Thursday will be good.
I am planning to go on Wednesday for Nole's first match, I hope the schedule will be managing to happen, but we shall see.

I thought yelling and sulking would go down well with most Murray fans ;) Yeah, JJ's results have been rubbish since the Wimbledon semi last year.

When it's Andy yelling in those dulcet Scortish tones, it's a different story ;)

In all seriousness, at least Murray is clearly a nice guy off the court whereas JJ just seems to be a bit of an arrogant scally.

I posted the story, with link, in general news, but Kei may be out through the USO.

I had Milos pegged as another Pim Pim earlier in his career. And it's clear he is trying to build his game beyond that. Great for him.

Moose, your warning level is at 90%. One more bad news like that, you will
be banned from these forums. Watch out. :cry

The play resumed in Toronto, let's hope that it stays that way and they are able to finish all matches from today, today!!! It all should clear up from tomorrow with some nice temperatures.

Giraldo is up a break on young Kyrgios.

Canadian broadcaster Sportsnet is streaming the action from 2nd largest court at the Rexall centre and if somebody is interested in some other matches from that court, they can be seen here:

http://www.sportsnet.ca/sportsnet-live/

At the moment Andreas Seppi is playing young Canadian Schnur 3 all in the first set.

Just tuned in to that match and Kyrgios hit a beast of a 2nd serve at 187kph last game.
