Li has a tough quarter. I don't think Vika shoud play. The injury prevented her from training properly so she will not get far anyway. Better to heal fully. I find it impossible to pick the winner. Maybe Pova??

I was impressed by the way she manhandled Petra Kvitova in AO.

I think Kumkhum lost in qualies to Fichman

and surprised Kiick beat Mandy M.

She's in qualifying vs Sharon Fichman.

Yes my mistake and I checked. She lost the QR1 in 3 sets.

Tough draw for my player.
R2 - Nara plays the same style, maybe even faster! Just won WTA Rio. The worst Simona could get for a R2.
R3 - Safarova baggeled the new Simona in Nurnberg 2013! A bad Simona day and she loses.
R4 - Genie. If Genie reach R4 then she is in good form. Watch out.
QF - Vika. If Vika reach QF then she is in good form. Watch out.

Much tougher than in the Australia grand slam.
The easy match will be the Semi final against Aga ;) - just kidding
Impossible to tell what will happen. She can only lose 15 ranking points and will stay around the #7 rankings.

Why did you had to make that poll on another forum? :) It shows Simona as the favorite to win IW..
My gut tells me she will lose to Nara.. I can feel it :(
She will not be ready for the Samurai war after all the celebrations in Romania.

Hoergren, we really appreciate the full coverage you are giving us for this event, you are going tru the trouble of listing every match and result, which takes quite a bit of time. I know because I've done it.
I am also delighted to see ozza is back with his insightful remarks, welcome back, I thought you left us!

Here is a picture for all of you.

Yes, what would we do without Hoergren's contributions? I hope Woz does well in every tournament for his sake.

Top Japenese player against Top Romanian player sounds good, although I can't worry about Nara as much as Si Si Simona does. Simona will take care of Nara in straights. I don't even know if Nara would make it out of the first round...
But there are fancy first round matches that include:
Garcia vs. BMS
Monica vs. Elina
Vera vs. Peng
Wozniack vs. U-Rad
Alison vs. Bojana
Taylor vs. Karin

Kiu, Nara is still new and underrated. She just won the Rio WTA event 2 weeks ago and is ranked her highest of #47.
A very explosive, dynamic and fast player. She will have a breakthrough year without a doubt. Imo, from the qualifiers only Watson can beat her and she will beat almost any of the players in your list of R1 fancy matches.
Thank god that Simona can use her height and power ;) to beat this Japanese bundle of energy

Btw, Nara is shorter than Cibulkova by 3cm. She is 158cm (5'2") !
Imagine her playing against the sugar giraffe ;)

I'm not sure, but I believe that I read that she is also coaching Sabine? What happened with her partnership with Anastasis Pav?

I love the picture :) And I think Genie can handle BYE in the 1st Round, but her play of late hasn't impressed me :nono

No its not me. You will get him banned there, poor soul ;) They will check his login info and keep him alive I guess.
Its like the KGB down there :laydownlaughing such idiots while everyone is abusing everyone.
They keep the fake show off... as if its a decent normal forum..
And Mido1988 is very mild compared to me ;)
I stopped login there months ago, a waste of time.
