he was serving bigger than that, and he at least had hopes to outrally them

Roger is gonna regret not taking his bh dtl , I think Stan will unload on his bh dtl..I thought Fed played excellent the 1st set .Rafa just broke his will and just have the perfect game to defeat Fed ,

I hope you're kidding.

Relying on his backhand as a primary weapon is an insane idea.

I agree, Roger has to do it with his serve and forehand against Rafa and both were awful.

Well, this series is officially a wrap. In the Federer v. Nadal series, Nadal is just a better player. Not better skill-wise or talent-wise, but just more effective.

Ding ding ding.

Whatever you say Boss, you call em like you see em

Well I don't really see how anyone can disagree with that.

Roger is no longer the #1 Swiss after this. That is just unreal.

A really snoozer encounter. Not worth bothering. You know the results up front.

They were not awful. Lol.

The issue is what Federer looks to do with his forehand. It's funny how Nadal's backhand turns into a weapon every time he plays against Federer. Nadal's BH is pedestrian against everyone else, and then when it comes time to play Federer, he turns into a mini-Nalbandian-like shotmaker with the backhand. It's no coincidence. Fed is way too predictable. Nadal can basically sit on that wing and just line up shots like he is hitting off the ball machine.

Does anyone still call this a rivalry? They played a handful of good matches over half a decade ago

#8 in the world, if that can't motivate him...

6 month ago, you said the same about David Ferrer's back. And Roger liked looking at it. Why would #8 be any different?

Cali his forehand and serve were awful, the forehand missing left and right and on serve he basically used two second serves for God knows what reason

Because eventually he will say enough is enough and play good tennis. He showed he CAN still play great, the only question is if he can consistently bring it. He looked like he had a point to prove at this tourney until he sunk into his usual shell vs. Rafa. All he has to do is be focused and he will get back to top 3 this year, it ain't hard.

It was a rivalry when it was still 18-10. But 23-10 is no longer a rivalry. Half of that is 12-5. 12-5 isn't much of a rivalry.

rafa/wafa v Federer feels like the post 1985 matches of McEnroe and lendl..

they played each other a few times after that and mac only won once..(1989 WCT SF).

There's your typical hyperbole.

Fed was hitting clean for the most part. He had his shanks once he lost the first set and got deflated, but calling his forehand awful is absurd.

The problem is what he looking to do with it. If he wants to continue to pound Rafa's backhand, then he can finish his career 10-30 against Nadal. I hope he enjoys himself.
