What's most surprising to me is that the two players (besides Nole) generally regarded having the best ROS ever, are not at or near the very top of this top 10 list: Connors and Agassi.

Cheers
TM

fanfare

Agassi had a great ROS when he CONNECTED.........in the other hand, Novak always connects. The same for Rafa.

But what exactly are you returning? Lemons? Or serves?

It's up to you.....whatever floats your boat. Maybe you missed the part of theses stats uses all surfaces and not just clay. That's why I mentioned the players that have succes outside of clay which it's indicative of a great ROS.

I see that you are still hunting for my clue:grin:. That's okay. Let me help you :smooch. Why I referred to the serve and claycourters is that if you want to convert a break point it helps if the serve you are receiving doesn't blast past you but is slowed down by the clay.

Again, the stats take into account ALL surfaces and players like Novak for example; who is on that list excel at ROS. The clay angle applies only to clay court specialist that play very little matches outside of clay. As you know; Novak, Rafa, Ferrer and Nalbandian play the MAJORITY of their matches OUTSIDE of clay.

You are welcome

I said lots of clay courters are on that list which makes sense because the serve is weaker there. And even those players you list do play significantly more matches on clay than other players (with the exception of Nalby maybe). I would not be surprised if Rafa actually plays almost half of his matches on clay or the majority.

Not even close to half his matches are on clay. It's probably about 30% I'd guess.

You are so wrong and it's because you don't really think before "talking"

Rafa career match record:

663-129

HC: 318-89
Grass: 50-13
Carpet: 2-6
Clay: 293-21

Now tell me smart one, which number it's greater 478 or 314?

Speaking of money, I remember Roger saying in an interview that he has to make quarters to break even, with the big team he is travelling with. That's a lot of money. I am happy he profited this time around.

LOL, isn't this completely absurd? He has a turnover of A$270,000 (not counting sponsorshipfees) for two weeks? How the hell is Pipo Volandri going to compete with his majesty on an equal basis?

Seriously, you need to relax. I know you're all pumped up for your boy's big match tonight, but he'll be okay, don't be so obtuse.

OT: I said I wouldn't be surprised. Clearly, he still plays a significant part of those matches on clay. Thanks for looking that up btw.

the distance in percentage between players in this list it's minimal. We are talking Coria has a 46% and Novak a 44%.

I don't care as much, if you noticed I addressed you before in the past. You are amusing.

It's only takes a little bit of research and that's the whole point about your comments often.

How is this even mathematically possible? How many clay tournaments does he play per year? Usually, discounting last year, it's the 3 Masters + Barcelona + Roland Garros. That's 5 clay tourneys. Let's say he reaches the final in all of them, that amounts to 27 matches (5 matches in each tourney and 7 at Roland Garros). Unless Nadal has been somehow playing 54 matches per year or less, the above is impossible.

It looks like an open wound cut ,

In honor of Mr. Kieran, maybe this time Rafa has to use his "Good" hand to serve.;)

Seems Nadal is trying a new, less-obtrusive bandage that only covers the blister. You can see a photo here. It also makes the hand look less frightening than the picture above. The article says that they don't know how the bandage will work and won't until the match.

Hoping for a high-quality match! See you later for the live chat.

We"ll ask Cali...;)

I'm right here. If only Nadal had some of the toughness that Gasquet and Simon and Monfils do....

Good of you to take that one on the chin, Cali.

BTW, not a surprise that the thread about Fedal XXXIII has turned into a festival of statistics. Good stuff, actually. What else have we got? Two big fan bases waiting for the big battle...

For once, it's actually meaningful, interesting, and telling statistics though.
