Does the kid have one more set in him?
I just have been able to nip in to watch, and Jo just played a garbage game. If the Next Gen is stepping up and the old guard won't step up to meet them, well...I'll be happy to see the kid win.

Just one niggle...could someone speak to him about the backwards hat with the wayward tab? He needs a stylist. ;)

Too young...he will figure it out :)

But this is the moment of truth. Can he close it out on his serve now? He has a great head on his shoulders, proved that against Delpo and Rafa but this is the big stage...the biggest actually.

He will, or someone will figure it out for him. I actually find his shagginess rather charming. Tsonga evens it up, though.

Shapovalov takes out Tsonga in 3 sets. I hope Kyrgios is paying attention. There are younger guys just as talented as he is who WANT to be on the court and WANT to win and actually LIKE the sport that keeps a roof over their heads and money in their bank acounts.

But reminded he was defaulted by hitting ball in the face of umpire in Davis Cup match against Britain; Edmund the same opponent in his next round! :ptennis:

This was a beauty of a match by Denis. Just fearless tennis.
His technique is very sound from both sides, more good things will come.

That was an awful early career mistake and I think he's more than rued it. If he learned a lesson, and I think he did, he should be forgiven for that. Though the umpire did have a serious injury to his eye and I think had to have surgery. Harsh lesson indeed.

They just mentioned it on the TV, yes the umpire needed surgery, but they are on good terms now.

I love the fact that he likes attacking. Breath of fresh air. And a solid single handed backhand on an 18 year old is another bonus for me :)
