But reminded he was defaulted by hitting ball in the face of umpire in Davis Cup match against Britain; Edmund the same opponent in his next round! :ptennis:

Crap happens. It's not like he was trying to hit the umpire deliberately. Or throw coins at his feet...

Nice to see some of the "NextGen" guys stepping up, but realistically - how deep will these guys go? I know the draw is pretty decimated in the bottom half, but sooner or later you'd think a veteran player will be able to stop them.

I was more impressed today with Coric game than Shapo, why? because even that Zverev looks to be one step back and he doesn't look so strong but at least he was PLAYING, meanwhile Shapo was playing too hasty and of course taking all the risk with a pretty good serve but against an opponent who at the present can't compite to nobody, my goodness how erratic was in all the ways :nono:

Speaking of next gen.. I didn't see too many posters rooting for Tiafoe to come through versus Fed.

I am a long-time Tiafoe fan...and there are others. That he went so deep v. TMF is as much as most could have hoped for. You haven't been paying attention if you think he doesn't have a little fan base.

Lol are you serious. why bring it up? He said it was strange. Same as I can say it is strange that Nadals biceps have shrunk over the years.
Was Rafa responding to a reporter's question

Its strange seeing the Aus open play faster than the usopen. Pretty sure its a ball selection issue, b/c the surface is still fast, it just seems like you have to club the ball to see any pace generated.

As far as Zverev/Kyrgios, well there is nothing much to say. I can't get any read on them from one tourney to the next. Kyrgios gives me mental vibes similar to younger Murray (in fact I feel like he plays sorta like a mix between Murray and Tsonga), whereas Zverev seems to have issues with grinding. Both are correctible issues, and their talent is of course clearly there.

TMF? You are funny. I don't think Tiafoe showed much, I of course am happy Federer won but that doesn't change the fact he'd have lost to a great many players on Tuesday. Sets 1 and 4 were two of the worst I've seen him play and sets 2 and 5 were pretty poor too.

He would have lost to any top 50 player barring Nadal, which is his customer now, and Kyrgios, (as he would have seen that Federer was playing like shit and tank the match, as he only cares when he plays one of the big three at a decent level). :dance2:

I actually didn't mean that Roger was playing like TMF...it's just another way of typing Roger, Rog, Fed, etc....I agree he played pretty poorly, but he is Federer, and Tiafoe is young and it was on Ashe. I thought he shows that he's grown up, holding his game, blah blah.

This tournament is a bit too chaotic with all the injuries and the awful, awful bottom half of the draw. The only thing keeping my attention is Fedal.
