blind worshippers simply expect too much from him. he is just one man.

Normally it's just one man who wins it, in fairness.

Except the doubles, that's won by two men...

are you drunk? if this man was to dominate the sport totally all year long then there would be nothing left for anybody else to win. better be glad he is human.

he is just one man anyway. and he is spent.

deal with it.

he is not winning shanghai and he is not winning WTF. at least I am not seeing it right now.

he has done enough. now all that matters is showing up healthy, fresh, fit, and hungry for 2014.

You "didn't see him" winning Montreal, Cinci or New York either. You need to open your eyes and see a bit more, this is Rafa we're talking about. No limits on the dude, please... ;)

You've been wrong about Nadal before, and you'll be wrong again....

You are done.

Nadal is a billion times greater than your corny movies.

The fatigue factor in Fall is always greatly overstated and comes up after every Nadal loss. They all just had about 3-4 weeks off. That is plenty to be fine for best of 3 sets indoors.

This is Rafa's best chance there, likely no Murray and Roger is completely washed up, no need to talk down his chances.

I think I have to go with the following 3 for the title at the O2 arena:

1. nole
2. roger
3. del potro

Finally Nadal can get some indoor hardcourt wins over Federer. Let's hope they meet twice at the World Tour Finals, if that's possible.

Thanks for the update, Isabelle.

An odd latter half of the year for Andy: from Wimbledon Champion, to going out early at the USO, to back surgery, to withdrawing from the last two Masters, and now the WTF.

Even though he has never won the WTF, his presence has been key nevertheless, IMO. One of my all-time favorite Murray matches was the 2010 semifinal against Nadal -- a 3+ hour nail-biter, ending in a third-set tiebreak. (Sorry for bringing up that one, Iona.) I've always most enjoyed Murray when he's playing Rafa. Something about him brings out an aggressiveness in Andy which I don't sense with anyone else.

[Raises virtual champagne flute]: Here's to Andy's quick recovery, and healthy return in 2014. :celeb:

I agree with Tented, that Murray-Rafa matches are always intriguing to watch. It is sad that match-up has not taken place since Murray became a slam winner.

About the news, I am sad Murray will not play at this event. He brings a lot to the table.

Avoiding Nadal is the reason why Murray is a slam winner. You'll see next year (assuming they meet).

I thought I told you to keep that endless, constant, incessant, unremitting irrational exuberance in check to some extent.

that was an irresponsible thing to say. murray worked hard all his life for what he has achieved.

he did NOT avoid nadal. nadal is not bright enough when it comes to his training and his scheduling.

deal with it.

and stop the bloody blind worship. NOW.

and that reminds me: did I mention that I am not happy with the clay warrior.

It's not the latter half of the year I thought it would be. :( I'm disappointed but at least the surgery is done and I know Andy has started his rehab. He is scheduled to headline an exo at the end of November in Barbados. http://www.thedreamcup.com/

The Murray v Nadal WTF match in 2010 is a sore point but it was an amazing match. I think it was one of the best matches I saw that year. No doubt Andy plays more aggressive tennis when he plays Rafa. I honestly can't wait to see them play again.

[Raises virtual champagne flute]: I join Tented in wishing Andy a quick recovery, and a healthy return in 2014. Fingers crossed it might be sooner. :celeb:

All your recommendations for Nadal have been wrong. You keep wishing Nadal would skip events. Djokovic would finish 2013 with the number one ranking if Nadal had your weak attitude.

As for Murray, one day you will grow up and realize that everybody is allowed an opinion on your UK golden boy. The fact that you can't handle those opinions is your problem, and your problem alone.

Murray would not have won last year's US Open if he had to face Nadal. You won't ever convince me otherwise. And whenever Murray and Nadal meet again at Wimbledon, Nadal will again dismiss him. Now go back to your silly little man-on-man movies.

I am hoping that andy murray comes back stronger than ever in 2014.

he can set the tennis world on fire if he can capture another Wimbledon crown. I will cheer for him at Wimbledon.

I read on mtf that Murray would play Acapulco 2014. Strange choice IMO
