Iga had a tough match against Tomljanovic. After a brilliant start by Iga the first set lasted well over an hour, as the Ausatralian fought her way back. Lots of "juice" games in the match and a lot of errors from Iga, but she won anyway after retirement of the Australian. Actually a watchable match but, Iga is a little error prone after a break since the US open.

I watched some of that match, but not the end. What happened that Ajla retired one game before Iga would have just won it?

Maria Sharapova hints on possible comeback next year,

"I practiced with my old coach a few weeks ago in LA and I was like wow I could still play on clay swings and who knows I may possibly win Paris next year ha ha"

I have no words!
Pova is not coming back. Her one-dimensional game would get skunked by the likes of Iga, Ons, Coco, etc.

Ons Jabeur has reached her 12th quarterfinal in 2022 beating Rodina in under an hour with splendid gameplay in Montasir.

I like Tay as a commie, but I have to ask again, why isn't she playing these smaller events? If Genie can play, why can't she?
She is so disappointing,I have to say that she is lazy. She could have played that event in Tunisia or played qualies in Ostrava.

Maybe she doesn't want to travel overseas w/ the baby, but that's the price you have to pay if you want to be a tennis mom. Anyway, let's see if she plays San Diego next week.

Well it was a tough match where many of the games lasted about 10 minutes and in the second set you could see Tomljanovic having trouble with her knee and after winning her game for 2-2 she chose to stop - I think a good decision not making it worse - but here is a glimpse of the match where you can see how they fought about each point

She was like this before the baby, she can become a doubles specialist which can help her singles game. She will regret one day when she gets to thirty with nothing to show for it.She is so talented.
I hope she is not staying home because of her boyfriend.

Ons was horrific in that Liu match. Really disappointing to lose to a nobody at your inaugural home tourney. Anyway, true to historical form in the SF Liu is sent home in straights w/ some bakery products for the road.

Another final for IGA but it was tough Alexandrova was a good oponent - 60th win for Iga in 2022, her 8th final this year - won the first 7.

Emma Raducanu's management have confirmed she will play no more matches on the WTA Tour this season, because of a problem with her wrist.Apparently as a junior had a reputation for being injury-prone, ( no one imagined her first full year on tour would be so interrupted through injuries) Emma needs to get to the gym for overall strength training in the off season
My advice to Emma and her team is to employ a top trainer and physio to accompany her on tour in 2023..

Barbora Krejcikova extends her win strak to 8 matches after reaching back to back finals. Barbora has been in the 'tennis wilderness' since having elbow issues which saw her take time off the tour and coming back to the tour, it has taken her sometime to find her game again.Barbora was successful in Tallinn last week, she defeated Rybakina to be in the final in Ostrava.
Caty McNally/ Alycia Parks will meet the 3rd seeds Rosolska/Routliffe in the doubles final at Ostrava

After a slow start from Krejcikova, this is turning into a barnburner of a match. She was 2 breaks down, now serving to get it to a TB. High quality stuff now.

Yep. Babs is looking formidable again. Like the 2021 RG champ. But those 2nd serves didn't do her any favors and she drops the opening set 7-5

Then she lost her break advantage in the 2nd, and it's 5-5 now.
