It took EIGHT match points, but Kvitova finally beat Badosa, 7-6, 6-4. It was a huge win for her in her home country.
Iga had a tough match against Tomljanovic. After a brilliant start by Iga the first set lasted well over an hour, as the Ausatralian fought her way back. Lots of "juice" games in the match and a lot of errors from Iga, but she won anyway after retirement of the Australian. Actually a watchable match but, Iga is a little error prone after a break since the US open.

Pova is not coming back. Her one-dimensional game would get skunked by the likes of Iga, Ons, Coco, etc.Maria Sharapova hints on possible comeback next year,
"I practiced with my old coach a few weeks ago in LA and I was like wow I could still play on clay swings and who knows I may possibly win Paris next year ha ha"
I have no words!
I like Tay as a commie, but I have to ask again, why isn't she playing these smaller events? If Genie can play, why can't she?Good to hear Taylor Townsend commentating solo the last few days on TC.
She is so disappointing,I have to say that she is lazy. She could have played that event in Tunisia or played qualies in Ostrava.I like Tay as a commie, but I have to ask again, why isn't she playing these smaller events? If Genie can play, why can't she?
Maybe she doesn't want to travel overseas w/ the baby, but that's the price you have to pay if you want to be a tennis mom. Anyway, let's see if she plays San Diego next week. She is so disappointing,I have to say that she is lazy. She could have played that event in Tunisia or played qualies in Ostrava.
Well it was a tough match where many of the games lasted about 10 minutes and in the second set you could see Tomljanovic having trouble with her knee and after winning her game for 2-2 she chose to stop - I think a good decision not making it worse - but here is a glimpse of the match where you can see how they fought about each pointI watched some of that match, but not the end. What happened that Ajla retired one game before Iga would have just won it?
She was like this before the baby, she can become a doubles specialist which can help her singles game. She will regret one day when she gets to thirty with nothing to show for it.She is so talented.Maybe she doesn't want to travel overseas w/ the baby, but that's the price you have to pay if you want to be a tennis mom. Anyway, let's see if she plays San Diego next week.
