Venus is in trouble against Keys - lost first set 36 but survived second set winning the tiebreak. Is she winning the third or?
Going fine now ahead 30 - faults increasing both sides but Venus is best. 50 now the diesel is running at full speed  - and third set ends 61 to Venus - well done.

Yikes. Suarez-Navarro feeds Petkovic not one but two bagels. 6-0, 6-0. Ouch.

Heard she had a knee injury. Not real sure why she kept playing.

hoergren: is it me or is their scheduling a bit wacky? Some players completing their 2nd round before others have played their R1?

So, Venus and Pliskova win their respective groups. I believe the winner from the group with #1 seed will play the winner from the group with #4 seed. Can someone confirm that?

Still having trouble figuring out this tournament but if Venus wins the thing, she could finish at No. 7 in the Year-end rankings. I realize it's a schedule thing and all but this tournament really should come before the WTA Finals. Very anticlimactic and not getting much attention I think. Most fans are confused by it because it's after the "season-ending" championships in Singapore. Needs to be rethought.

Technically that would be difficult. The Elite Championship is supposed to be #9 - 20; but #9 and 10 are also alternates for the YEC. If the Elite played before YEC then there's the possibility that #9-10 could end up playing both tournaments.
