I am sure Aga and Serena are having a giggle about this..the Wimbledon crowd had coronated Sabine as the queen of Wimbledon but Marion had the last laugh and they say those that laugh last laugh best.....lol

I really like Bartoli with all her quirks, she reminds me of a girl that is always ignored by the It girls at school.I hope she rises to the occasion by playing lights out tennis that she played against Serena in 2011...

Tossip, we got it right: Bartoli in 2. :)
:laydownlaughing just happy for Marion..just as I was happy for Schiavone..two most unlikely unassuming winners..

I predict Lisicki will win the trophy. If this happens, I will be sad for Bartoli. She will not get another chance, given her age and game.
Can you tell me who you have for the Men's Final because I would like to make a wager on the other guy:snigger:laydownlaughing.. Just kidding.. Congrats to Marion Bartoli, A storybook ending and a real Rocky Balboa for female tennis:clap

Congrats Marion!!!

The French have been looking towards the men for years, and it's the outcast woman who brings them glory!

well you know which is easier :D

very sad for Lisicki though, never came out of her beautiful shell....

Considering that more French men have made slam semi's in the last 5 or 6 years than the women, your "well you know which easier," doesn't hold up!:D

Marion has character, is spontaneous and deserving of our Grand Slam win. Good for Sabine too for making into the finals, a refreshing change to see other players in a slam final! Been in one press conference with Marion and it was "bubbly" and fun.:D

Antipusher, I thought Lisick's nerves would cause her to lose the middle set. I had no idea she would be so overwhelmed by the occasion. In case you are wondering, I think Djoke will beat Andy.

"Refreshing change?"

Correct me if I'm wrong, it hasn't even been 2 years since all four majors were contested by different players, and people were complaining there was not consistent player(s) dominating?

Also, in the last year alone, you've had different players making finals, Radwanska, Li, Bartoli, Lisicki, Sharapova, Azarenka and Serena.

I have never seen a player so nervous as Sabrine was on Centre court. It happens but not typically for the majority of the entire match.

Sabine was not deserving of Wimbledon and the universe spoke...everything lined up perfectly for Marion to win this event with all the players in her side of the draw falling apart..

Nah, I disagree.. Sabrine did deserve to be in the final.. She did it the ole fashioned way, She earned it...

Tossip, we have to be fair to the other players when Serena looses a match. However, I didn't see the match but I hear that Sabrine really moved Serena around and that it was her play that bothered Serena although she may have not been at her best. Too many times we have seen Serena not at her best but find a way, this was not one of those moments. I am ok with that and lets congrats Lisicki on a great run .. She is truly deserving and will be back in the finals again

Interesting lil tidbit, both the women's champion and both women's doubles champs play two handed on the forehand and backhand, their all the same age, 27 and the first slam for each of them.

I'm sure Monica Seles is sporting a humongous smile.

You tell me, I saw the men's semi's of the French Open, one was a classic or the other was a total dud, as was the finals, where were you words then?

And, if you have such a low view of women's tennis in comparison to men's, stop watching or commenting on it. that would hold up MUCH easier....no?

tossip , Lisicki deserved the trophy more than Bartoli . Lisicki beat Serena and Radwanska #1 and #4 seeds both of last years finalists anyone who beats 2 of the top 4 players deserves a slam .

Sabine deserved nothing, she lost her composure in that final and its no one s fault but herself.Sabine reached a final just like Vera Zvonareva and might end up slamless because of injuries and lack of championship mentality. She plays too much to the camera and spectators..this time she will be a marked woman.I hate the way she mugs to the fans and she comes off as wanting to please..usually that spells lack of self esteem.

:s Lisicki is a much better player than Zvonareva , lack of championship mentality , I don't think so , she wouldn't beat Serena or come back from bad injuries if she didn't have championship mentality . Lets wait and see what happens over the next year but I think she has a great chance of winning Wimbledon a few times  I don't think someone with a lack of self esteem would get into a Wimbledon final ?

Tossip. TM is correct. I would ask you again to watch Serena's press conference after her loss. When have we ever seen Serena give so many accolades to player that has just defeated her.

I have to run with Tossip here, Lisicki deserves the Wimbledon title no more than Bartoli. This is why matches are played, just because you beat superior along the way, doesn't mean you're more deserving than the opponent whom had the "easier" road. One woman wins the title, and that is the MOST deserving player.

Also, now you want to deem Lisicki a superior player than Zvonerva....really??

I know people are still on the recent high of Lisicki's run to the final, but let us not forget, Vera has also made a Wimbledon final and a US Open final and and semi's of a couple other slams, as well as reaching number 2 in the world.
