Can we temporarily put Murray back in the top 4 after this win?

He's top 2, actually. ;)

And he's having a great year - 3 slam finals, victory in Rome, he's a solid lock on #2, and improving...

Lest for the Jo Willy match, that had to be the easiest slam Muzz has ever won

Don't remind me, what a blown opportunity by jowillieTs not to capture his first slam without having to face his Achilles heel, Novak

With Milos, we've seen this kind of player for decades, who plays great to get there, but whose game doesn't stand up to scrutiny at the very top levels of the game. There's no shame in that, and he keeps improving. Of all the players of the Missing Link generation, he's the only one with guts and the honesty to keep trying to get there. Oh, Nishi too, but really, that's a lousy generation, and I admire fellas like Milos who put their very best into making themselves better, despite their obvious limitations...

Tsonga has more than just an Achilles heel - he has an Achilles Toe, an Achilles Brain, and Achilles Heart, an Achilles Elbow, an Achilles.... :popcorn

Milos was so embarrassed at the end, he did not even know how to handle the press and questions. He actually forgot to thank anyone and the interviewer has to prompt him to thank his folks.

Brother Kieran, you might not like this but the Top 5 players right now are the Big 4 and Wawrinka. And what's so interesting is that essentially all of them are 30 years old (Murray and Djokovic are 29 years old but still...)!

The only thing that I enjoyed today was Andy winning the point on the second pass. Milos will come in and Andy will make a passing shot which will stretch Milos to one side. Milos would manage to get that volley and immediately Andy would pass him on the other side (it is too much to ask for a big man to run and stretch to the other side after barely making one volley) to win a point. Andy executed this scheme multiple times with great success. :clap

Come on Dominic Thiem! French Open Champ Next Year! If I have to see someone not named Djokovic win one, let it be him! Heck step up at the US Open that would be even better.

We were kind of discussing this in The Race to London thread, with Rafa only having played 3 matches at slams this year, maybe only 90 ranking points there, missing Wimbledon, and Roger skipping Paris, and also most of the season, and they're still ranked so high, it doesn't say much for the field, does it?

There's so many top players now only have a basic idea of how to construct a point with regards to closing the point off at the net. Roger is the most clued in, but he's older and learned tennis on the cusp of the great change, but the younger players look like they're mentally scanning a technical manual when they approach the net. They hit and hope, almost, instead of grabbing the opportunity by the nuts. So many passing shots today are made routine by players approaching right into their opponents pocket, so they barely have to move or stretch to rifle the pass...

Congratulations to Andy Murray for winning his 2nd Wimbledon title and 3rd major title! Like I always say that he is probably the unluckiest male player in the Open Era because he is playing against probably the Top 3 players of all time. Also, the way he played today was magnificent. He was like a surgeon dissecting the body time after time. Hopefully, this win will springboard him to become the 1 player in the world in the future.

As for Milos Raonic, he had a great tournament. He is showing a lot improvement in his game. Unfortunately for him, he is basically a bigger version of David Ferrer. They are mentally tough but do not have the complete game to win a major. I really do hope he wins at least 1 major. His professionalism and maturity is something to be looked at by the younger players. If Kyrgios follow the way Raonic is handling himself, then Kyrgios will definitely win a major title.

Hope this inspires Andy to stop Novak in slams a few times in the next couple of years (thus preventing Novak from reaching 17 :devil).

I think this slam victory is like a monkey off Andy's back, we should see him a lot more competitive in big matches from now on...

GSM, I don't think Djokovic will tie or surpass Federer in the GS count. I'm not saying it is not doable but I'm just saying as he gets closer to record, it will be really hard for him to achieve it.

That's why I never thought Nadal will surpass Federer even when he was at his prime of his career.

I just believe that the closer you get to a record, the harder it is to achieve it because the mental pressure will just pile on. Also, if you look at it, 5 or 6 more slams are still a big number to catch for Djokovic especially at his age.

When did he leave?

Sorry, I meant big 4, not top 4. Recently people have been saying he does not belong to the big 4.
