Now, all members of Big Four except the Big One have dropped out of Toronto. Assuming Big One wins Toronto, that would make it almost impossible for Andy to catch up to Novak considering the strangle hold Novak has over the Asian Swing and the Indoor Swing.
With 3 masters and 2 slams this years, I think the year end number 1 is a foregone conclusion (barring injury).
Far from a foregone conclusion when less than 1,000 points is separating them. But even before Murray withdrew from Toronto I'd say his chances were small given how each has historically performed this time of year and especially in the Fall. I think Murray's only realistic hope of getting the #1 is going on a tear from the Olympics through the USO because there is no way he will earn more points in the Fall season than Novak.
