What an intense ending to this match, Angie uses the lucky seven match point to take it. It was impressive how Angie was hanging on at the end and making no mistakes. Masha was bombarding her with deep ground strokes.
Kerber won this with her consistency.

My heart hasn't raced like that in ages! Been saying the men have been gutless, but the women are putting on a show! All the top players are gone again, while the men still have all their top seeds! "Bravo ladies! Too bad I have no idea who you are!" I barely know Kerber and Kvitova is a past champion! No clue about the others; even Halep who's #3 with a chance to get to #1 after Serena's upset!

Her real issue was mental breaks at finish of matches. She gets soft when she needs to kill the match.
Kerbie lost many titles because of that. She got to the final and lost the match.

I can agree w/ that. I've seen her lose from winning positions a few times. Remember in 2011 when she was playing Lisicki here in the QF's? She had control of that match and lost it. Sabine went on to lose in the SF to Maria that year.

Actually the match between Kerber and Lisicki was in 2012 and Kerber won in the end. I think she had match points in the second set, then lost it in a tie-break but came back from 3:5 in the third. Kerber lost the SF to Radwanska that year. Two weeks earlier she lost the Eastbourne final to Paszek after having five match points.

I think in 2011 Kerber lost to Laura Robson in the 1st Round, fell out of the Top 100 and considered retiring. But then she changed her training setting and had her breakthrough reaching the SF of the US Open. Lisicki beat Bartoli who before beat Serena in the QF 2011.
