Well hopefully it is a proper motivator for the US Open. I have a feeling this one will be a bitter pill to swallow.

Sabine got more aces and more winners! She had better net-play outcome too.
Serena got more points!

Serena won more total points because she had more break points.

No Serena, no Sharapova, no Azarenka -- does Lisicki go on to win the title?
Sabine tends to have a let-down after a match of this magnitude.
Petra or Li are the highest seeds left!

I agree Kiu. Especially since she has to come back tomorrow and refocus.

Yeah, she's not top player material. She'll probably lose tomorrow.

You know the players aren't the day to day winners by how they react when they do have a huge win like today. Almost as though they've won the whole tourney, and they exert to much energy.

Sorry to say I told you so. Lisicki loves Wimby and is capable of great play. Why could she not have brought her game to the Olympics and spared us that horrible final?

Lisicki vs Petra for the trophy??

Lisicki loses next match, big match player at Wimbledon, just not big overall tourney player.

You could tell in the post match interview Calvy. The BBC reporter asked Sabine what about playing Kanepi tomorrow? Sabine's response was I'm not even thinking about that match yet. Well the match is tomorrow, she better start thinking about it.

Great to see Li getting this far. I don't know whom to root for. I like the personalities of several players still standing. Petra should make the final if she doesnt have a brain cramp (which she so often does).

All the best to Serena at USO. I am not a fan, but would like to see her win more major titles.

Exactly, she's gonna do a round of interviews, get in later than usual and POSSIBLY come out flat. You know what her opponent for tomorrow is doing, quick interviews and she'll be ready for tomorrow.

There is different energy you exert when you defeat a SW vs beating a Laura Robson.

In her presser, they asked Serena who she thought would win the tournament now. She gave the nod to Sloane and said she had a great opportunity in front of her.

I am not as sure as you are, she plays Kanepi next., they have never played before, I give the edge and momentum to Sabine.

Forgot all about Aggie, she is the finalist from last year and the highest seed left.

Serena looked tired today and didnt serve aces like she normally does...at least she won RG13.

I hope she can do it. That would be great.

OK, I'll go ahead and predict a Radwanska/Kvitova final.

YES...she looked sluggish from the start and was playing below par.I think the absence of Richard,Oracene and Venus affected her...especiallyRichard because he has been a constant at Wimbledon for all these years.

Nice win for Aga - well done. Down a set and slowly getting the grip of the match and she showed the tweener again - although no success this time. I think she might go all the way:clap:clap:clap

Interesting stats about Lisicki (from WTA homepage)

The win extended an incredible pattern for Lisicki. She has now reached the quarterfinals or better here in each of her last four appearances, and in each of those runs she has taken out the new French Open champion - Svetlana Kuznetsova in 2009, Li Na in 2011, Maria Sharapova in 2012 and now Williams in 2013. She wasn't able to play here in 2010 as she was recovering from an ankle injury.

So next years FO winner beware:cool:

Nice lineup for Wednesdays quarter finals - my guess:

Sabine Lisicki (GER) [23] vs Kaia Kanepi (EST) Kaia
Agnieszka Radwanska (POL) [4] vs Na Li (CHN) [6] Aga

Sloane Stephens (USA) [17] vs Marion Bartoli (FRA) [15] Marion
Petra Kvitova (CZE) [8] vs Kirsten Flipkens (BEL) [20] Petra

What do you think?

I think Lisicki will win, but I agree with everything else.

Nobody was noticing her family's absence when she was waxing Date and the others in the first 3 rounds. It's an excuse Tossip. She just didn't have it today against someone who wasn't going away.

Even w/ Sabine's big game, Serena still had chances and just didn't play the big points well. Sabine looked like the number 1 player. You have to give credit where it's due.
