Serena can only blame herself. She had dozens of chances w/ 2 breaks in the 2nd set and the first serve was never there the whole match. Congrats to Sabine. Wow! Who will come out of this side of the draw?

Serena Williams should be utterly embarrassed for her crappy play in set 3. Congrats to Sabine on claiming another French Open champ! Serena no excuses up 4-1 in the third. You should feel shame for that.

I actually consider Lisicki a bigger threat. She goes for broke at Wimbledon. She loves grass, she loves her history here, and she always peaks this time of year. I still expect Serena to win it by far.

I am curious to see Stephens v. Puig. I hope Stephens wins. It would be nice to see her make a push into the top 10.

I see The Robson v. Kanepi as an interesting match for a few reasons. Robson obviously thrives on confidence building tournaments, but will she do well under the pressure of home turf? Also Kanepi has done well on grass in the past.

I stand corrected...I bow down...lol!

Amazing win for Lisicki!!

Well, now she can ready for that all important clay event following Wimbledon.

She blew it, and Sabine stayed solid. Match reminds me very much of the Federer match, chances blown.

Again, Sabine did what she needed to do.

She was never up 4-1 in the 3rd. She was up 3-1 and Sabine broke for 3-2. Then Serena broke again for 4-2. Sabine broke for 4-3 and then went down 0-40 and saved those points to hold for 4-4.

Wow, Sundaymorningguy doling out the shame like Jonathan Edwards. I for one never advocate another person feeling shame, at least over a lost tennis match! Chill out a bit there.

Wow! Everyone picked Serena to win it all. Good call, sk310. Stephens is about through. Go, Sloane.

She should feel bad everytime she broke Sabine she gave it right back. Embarrassing for the top server in the game

Of all the slams, this was not the one I'd think she'd go out this early when playing well and no health or injury issues.

You just never know, c'est la vie!!

I guess she was so tuned in for the FO this year, that might have assumed Wimbledon was a gimme, not sure.

Sloane certainly has a huge opportunity now with the way the draw is opening up.

She was outplayed from the start. Didn't have the energy throughout the match and her movement was suspect at times. It'll be a bitter pill for her to swallow, but swallow it she will. We'll see how she responds the rest of the season.

Sorry to say I told you so. Lisicki loves Wimby and is capable of great play. Why could she not have brought her game to the Olympics and spared us that horrible final?

Lisicki vs Petra for the trophy??

Getting to 4-4 was key. Fighting off those breakpoints was impressive. It told me a lot about Lisicki. So many players wouldn't have been able to keep it together mentally to do what she did.

No Serena, no Sharapova, no Azarenka -- does Lisicki go on to win the title?

It's a tough call. Petra is still alive and looked pretty good today and knows how to win here. Then you have some grass court specialist in Kanepi and Pironkova who can really bring it on any given day. It's completely wide open now and exciting if you ask me.
