Youzhny to me is a bit similar to his generation what Gasquet is to the Nadal/Djokovic generation - not a consistent near-elite player, but someone with close to that level of ability that's always been hanging around.

Yeah, Tomic is fun to watch. Actually, he reminds me of Dimitrov - effortless, smooth, but without that killer shot or fire.

Poland might become a Davis cup force.

I'll mark this one down as a prediction. Could be...:)

Is it just me or does it seem that Tomic gives up too easily on points? I mean, Gasquet is making some nice shots that seem out of range, but it seems to me that Tomic doesn't even considering going for a lot of shots that a Djokovic or Nadal would be all over the court for. Perhaps that's part of the lack of fire I see in him and Dimitrov.

Man, what a crazy tournament.

Bernard Tomic looks pretty good against Gasquet.

While I'm a bit disappointed that Paire lost, I'm glad that it opens up the draw for Janowicz--if he can make it past Melzer and, more easily, Kubot or Mannarino--to make it to the SF.

If I'm Andy Murray I'd take Mikhail Youzhny very seriously. Mikhail has in some ways been one of the underrated players of the Federer generation. He was ranked 7 or 8 at one point, I think, and make it to a SF or two.

Murray's 4R opponent Misha looks the most dangerous in fact of all the players left, considering his resume, 2 time GS SF'st.

He is definitely more casual than Jerzy for example. That is why I like Jerzy's future more, he has not been hyped as Bernie and Grigor were for years and he seems hungrier and more eager.

T-Berd drops the opening set 6-3 to KA. Meanwhile Seppi comes through in 5 over Nishikori

Would love to see Janowicz serve, dropshot and blast winners all the way to the finish line and win the whole thing just to upset the status quo even more when everyone thinks it'll be a definite Murray v Djokovic final.

I hope Gasquet gets Tomic. And Seppi just beat Nishikori in 5!

And I was right, Andreas Seppi comes through. Watching at his happy face while walking to his chair, i notice his wide shoulders like a kayaker's, he must spend a lot of time in the gym

Tomic fell apart and lost the second set after being up three set points. The way the momentum has shifted I wouldn't be surprised to see Gasquet finish this off in four sets.

Seppi surprises me. I've never really been awed by his tennis, but he's done well to get the most out of his game.

Yeah. That was most unfortunate. Once again Tomic's footwork was a bit sloppy and he threw away some routine shots as a result early in the game and dug himself a hole he couldn't get out of.

Seppi followed a trend which is very common in today's tennis, keep improving towards the 30y threshold. Slowly but surely. He is not the only one. He moved into the top 20 only last year for the first time, at 28, when according to El Dude stats, many players are already on the decline.

The level Seppi produced to win the first 2 sets against Djokovic at last year's RG was outstanding and far more enjoyable viewing than any of this years's RG imo. In fairness that was due to better conditions last year. I didn't enjoy much of the so called "epic" semi final this year and only found sets 4 and 5 entertaining as the pace of the first 3 sets was so slow because of the windy conditions. Seppi v Djokovic last year on the other hand was far more high octane fast rallying action and definitely the best example of how good Seppi can be. He's played well against Fed too in the past.

I know! I was biting my nails furiously. Oh sorry, I know this is not the place to comment about the Ladies, but I could not help myself.

Tomic-Gasquet remains close. Battle of nerves as the 3rd set winds down.

I'm excited to watch Ferrer and Dolg. Anyone think Alex has a shot to pull the upset here? 5-1 in favor of David h2h, but none of the encounters were on grass which I think will help Dolg's hit & miss style of play.
