its not fair for pova no.4 ranked player who last won this event 11yrs ago to play on the big court just because Evian water is her sponsor..
how is Konta better than Heather who actually won a title and is the higher ranked Brit...its the same scenario as Serena......unfortunately Heather is not celebrated the same way Serena is not celebrated...go figure
Nobody said Heather is better than Konta. The only assertion made was that
Maria + Konta >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Heather + Caroline.
It is a no-brainer.
Serena destroying an unknown and drinking Margarita will be highly uncompetitive match for the centre court.
So, do you believe if Federer was half way to the Grand Slam, and he were playing a qualifier and Djokovic was scheduled to play, say, David Ward, that Federer would be put on Court 1?
Yes, I think they would have done that. Also, I think you are talking about James ward.
Actually, I expect Andy Murray and Rafa Nadal to be playing on centre court and Fed pushed to No. 1 court on Tuesday's schedule. The logic is fairly simple.
They can only schedule two men's matches on centre court. Given that the three marquee players
Fed, Andy and Rafa (he may suck, but he is still a marquee player as far as drawing crowds is concerned) are all in the same half, one of them has to be relegated to court 1. Fed is playing against some one who has never played (we are not talking about winning here) a single grass court match anywhere in the world at tour level.
Also, all other round matches of Fed are more interesting. In the second round, he faces Querry who just reached the finals of Nottingham. In the third round, he faces Sock, an upcoming player and last year's doubles champ. In the fourthe round, he faces Deliciano who has grass chops. In QF, he plays Berdych, a former finalist (not to mention SF and F which are always played on centre court).
So, if they want to schedule Fed in Court #1 for some round, the first round is probably the best time to do so.
