You're right, that's how they do it: they look at the skin colour and decide based on that. One year Rafa turned up with a deeper tan than usual, reached the final against Berdych, and they played the final out on court #2... :cover

The only redeeming thing is that the final will be good and as tennis fans we will be celebrating....all the riff raff will be gone soon..

its not fair for pova no.4 ranked player who last won this event 11yrs ago to play on the big court just because Evian water is her sponsor..
how is Konta better than Heather who actually won a title and is the higher ranked Brit...its the same scenario as Serena......unfortunately Heather is not celebrated the same way Serena is not celebrated...go figure

Nobody said Heather is better than Konta. The only assertion made was that

Maria + Konta >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Heather + Caroline.

It is a no-brainer.

Serena destroying an unknown and drinking Margarita will be highly uncompetitive match for the centre court.

So, do you believe if Federer was half way to the Grand Slam, and he were playing a qualifier and Djokovic was scheduled to play, say, David Ward, that Federer would be put on Court 1?

Yes, I think they would have done that. Also, I think you are talking about James ward.

Actually, I expect Andy Murray and Rafa Nadal to be playing on centre court and Fed pushed to No. 1 court on Tuesday's schedule. The logic is fairly simple.

They can only schedule two men's matches on centre court. Given that the three marquee players
Fed, Andy and Rafa (he may suck, but he is still a marquee player as far as drawing crowds is concerned) are all in the same half, one of them has to be relegated to court 1. Fed is playing against some one who has never played (we are not talking about winning here) a single grass court match anywhere in the world at tour level.

Also, all other round matches of Fed are more interesting. In the second round, he faces Querry who just reached the finals of Nottingham. In the third round, he faces Sock, an upcoming player and last year's doubles champ. In the fourthe round, he faces Deliciano who has grass chops. In QF, he plays Berdych, a former finalist (not to mention SF and F which are always played on centre court).
So, if they want to schedule Fed in Court #1 for some round, the first round is probably the best time to do so.

Federer will be court 1 or centre throughout this tournament, and so will Serena. And they'll both be on centre more often than not. That's how it should be, and will be. If they put either on an outside court, there'd be a story.

There's no story...

In view of the scheduling issues, I looked up as to how many British girls are in the draw. There are exactly four of them. They are Heather Watson, J. Konta, N. Broady and L. Robson. If their form holds and/or they live up to their ranking, none should play more than one match. :snicker

So, starting from second round "playing against a british player" would not play a role in scheduling decisions.

Well, hasn't Serena been relegated to court 2 in the reason past, whereas Roger always get's either Centre Court or Court?

Actually Kieran's statement while true by and large, is not 100% accurate. Wimbledon has a special problem. Unlike in other GSs, they have middle sunday and in the following Monday, they play all 4th round matches of Men and Ladies. We are talking about 16 different matches (covering both halves and both sexes) here and most of them will be exciting (obviously at this stage of the tourney). So, no matter how the organizers decide to the scheduling for that day, there will be some players who will not be happy with the scheduling. Cannot satisfy everyone.

Nice to see that there is a stream from 13 courts, so I guess you should be able to see most of your favorites and the games begin 11.30 London time. Streams - well you find them at your usual source:

Let the fun begin:cool:

Not a good set of tennis from Serena, however, I expect her to settle down and get back focused

Get ready and fasten your seat belts. The match of the day is about to begin on court 18. It involves Belinda Bencic an upcoming swiss girl, the finalist in Birmingham and winner at Eastbourne
and Pironkova, the ever crafty player who usually excels only during the grass part of the season.
