JMac just called into question Ferrer colluding with Nadal to make the draw easier for his countryman... :snicker. Count on McEnroe to go there.

Btw, I was on a conference call , what was Johnny Mac reference to Boris may be forgiven, what bone head thing did he say or do now

:dodgy: Boris? He had been quoted as saying he communicates with Novak during the match... and then Novak had to clean up after him.

Really, isn't that considered unethical practices between those two during a match..I thought Federer got on to Djokovic about that with his camp previously. Can someone post the link to that transcript, I would be interested to read what Boris said

A British Guy not named Murray has won a match. Liam Broady, a wild card, has won against Mattosevic in 5 sets. Now British Press can write volumes about him in tomorrow's papers.

broady was 0-2 down in sets as well....so that's a good win in anyone's book.

but yes, cue the 'plucky brit' wins a whole match at Wimbledon stories. an annual event in days before henman/murray pre-1996.

Didn't Mary - I - want - to - have - nadal's - baby - Carillo stand up for Rafa?

No. Mac really went after it. Described how Isner would have been in Nadal's draw, Kohli would have been seeded. That Ferrer withdrew at the last possible moment after it was impossible to change the draw and that he had to know sooner that he was unable to compete. Pretty much the sound of crickets after all that.

The producers absolutely read the internet forums, (including this one, for sure,) and feed stuff to the commentators. And I'm convinced they let Mac go with the controversial stuff, because it suits him. He didn't come up with it on his own, because he admitted he wouldn't have known the rule, as a player, about rebalancing the draw. The Isner factor made it interesting to the US audience. They have to fill a lot of air time, so they look for behind-the-scenes stories.

Good to know that we can influence the brilliant and balanced mind of JMac :snicker

Tomic's 5 setter today must surely be up there as one of the fastest 5 set matches I can personally recall. 2 hrs 5 mins for 5 sets?! ROFL! Took only 1.5 mins longer than Djokovic's straight set win. Glad to see Haas won nice and quickly.

No guarantee it's us, by which I mean GSM, but I'm a monkey's uncle if he thought that all up by himself. That came from the internet.

alexander zverev won in 5 sets..a young gun in round 2.

moving onto 'middle aged guns' I noticed milos was serving 141mph serves already..looks like he can use the early rounds to get back to his level, suppose his booming serves is easier for him to 'not forget' after his nerve-in-foot removal operation aggro.

good to see marty mcfly and sir grigor win also.

Marty McGoffin continues to "fly" under the radar. No one ever really talks about him, since his splashy debut taking like one set off of Roger at RG? Anyone championing him, or have a feel for his positives?

I was thinking that earlier, but there he is sneaking into the top20 while no-one was looking. last time I saw him he had muscled up slightly, although that's not saying much when considering he was flimsier than a cellophane moorhen when he burst onto the scene a couple of years ago.

I was impressed with his full on approach, as in, not giving up and staying positive in mindset/court positioning, I think more viewing of mcfly is required. to see the progress..

Another silly...Brad Gilbert today spoke of "Marin County" Cilic. That made me laugh. Not as good as "Cough Drop," but Gilbert always makes me laugh.

It's a real shame that Hewitt couldn't win, but what a career and what a player. His passion, enthusiasm and energy for the game is what initially attracted me to the sport of tennis. A legend of the sport, undoubtedly. #HewittForAO16'.

I couldn't warm to Hewitt's scratchiness for a long time. But I do respect his grit and commitment as a player. A LOT of younger players could learn something from him. I pegged him to win today, but two guys retiring went to the mat against each other, and Nieminen came out the better. I think it was 11-9 in the 5th? And that is likely his swan song at Wimbledon.

He is flying under the radar all right. And if Grigor is not going to do very well here, Goffin will be overtaking him in the rankings, making him the third ranked of his generation after Kei and Milos.
David Goffin is already ranked 15 and considering his age, there is no reason for him not to achieve a top 10 sometimes in his career.

I will say it, good riddance:clap to Hewitt , I lost respect for him when he made the racist references at an African-American or non white umpire during his US Open match vs James Blake who was as close as a model citizen on the ATP tour.

I really have a lot of respect for Llyeton Hewitt's grit and fighting spirit. In his hay days, he was known for not giving one point for free to the opponents.

Hope he enjoys his retired life as DC-captain.
