I think Serena can win 3 more slams before she is done. However, I still can not explain the recent bad performances at slams.

Serena got to 18, now we'll see how if she can get beyond that number.

She will reach at least 20 and that too probably by end of 2015 itself.

Reaching 18 is like having a monkey off and so she will play without much self
imposed pressure and play freely. When she does that good things happen to her.

^We'll see Tossip. It's an interesting and exciting scenario to have someone active chasing history. I had to revive this thread as 6 people voted that she wouldn't make it to 18.

I want to see how she approaches Australia before I make slam predictions for her. I want to see if she truly relaxes after having reached 18 or if new expectations weigh on her. I seem to recall I voted in the 20+ category which is very plausible for Serena. I think she is really going to have to focus 2015 and get as many as she can get that year. Depending on health, I think her main years to win multiple are 2015-2016. She will always be a contender if her health and game holds up.

I personally feel the pressure is off Serena now, after she achieved her 18th GS title.I think Serena will play looser now and relax more.Listening to Serena's press conference she still has more goals to achieve.Of course another factor is Serena's health,if that prevails I can honestly see Serena winning 20 plus GS titles.I feel her best chances are at Wimbledon and the USO.

I don't know her serve should make her a factor, but going out early two years in a row is sure to add pressure if she really wants Wimbledon next year. I think she could make some noise at the French again and the US Open.

I think she will truly be realxed. This is the way pressure psychology work. One does not
double fault while serving at love all. One double faults at a break point or set point etc
due to pressue.

So, Serenal will cruise to 21 in a relaxed manner within the next two years and then
pressure will get to her and she might need to spend lot of time there to get to 22
(assuming she gets there).

Many people will look many years down the road and notice, Serena's main accomplishment in reaching this milestone was the 2013 season, this is when she won 3 majors and had the best year of her career, I doubt she will ever top that year.

But then, I doubted she get #18

I personally feel the same as Sunday. I will need to see how she does in Australia to see what I think she'll reach.

The best case scenario is 2 in 2015 2 in 2016 to tie Steffi. I can't see her going past 22. I think that she's still by far the best player on tour, the problem is with age there's going to be more off days in the course of two weeks.

I would say the worst we'll see from Serena is finishing at 20. What she showed in 2014 is that even if she has a bad year and some really off days she's good enough that she can still pull through with a slam.

The reason why I am taking a wait and see approach is we all thought she was going to coast in 2014 and pick up multiple slams after her 2013 season, and boy were we wrong. She says she has relaxed now that she bagged number 18, but does the pressure ever really fall off now that she is chasing numbers?

This is what I have in store for Serena starting 2015.

2, 1, 0, 1, 0, 0, retire.

Good question....Does the pressure ever really fall off now that she is chasing numbers?

No in a sense it does not.Serena is probably more relieved now that she has achieved her 18GS title and the pressure and expectation is for the moment off her back.I feel it all comes down to what Serena wants to achieve in the future and the pressure she puts on herself,at times I feel she puts too much pressure on herself which can be negative, just my thoughts.I also feel her health will play a major factor in the next two years.I think 2015 will be a important year for Serena and I will be interested to see how she performs at the Australian Open.

Yes. If Kimiko can play at age 43, why can't Serena play till 39.

Besides, as we learnt in Wimbledon this year Serena does not know when to say
enough is enough and I am not getting on court anymore.

I can't see Serena playing for 6 more seasons. I can see realistically her playing 3-4 more seasons if her health holds up. If she has a major health issue pop up, I can see her retiring.

@Sunday I agree. 6 seems like a stretch. I don't think it's just her body and health holding up. I think Serena has a TON of interests outside tennis. I could definitely see Serena having a great career starting some kind of sports line like Venus or maybe an academy. Either way I think sometime in the next 2-4 seasons she will call it a day.

I think to reach Steffi's total she needs to win at least two next year.
