Novak officially announced the
mutual split with coach Boris Becker.
From Becker's recent interviews, I got the impression that he wanted to continue. So, essentially I think Jalena fired Boris.
Their partnership lasted for three years and resulted in six slam wins for Novak.
Now, Novak has Martin Vajdya and Peeping Tom, in his team. It does not look like he will add someone else soon. May be after six months or so.
Who's Peeping Tom?
None of this is a surprise to anyone, least of all those of us who wondered what the feck Becker actually did for Novak, apart from give him a craving for illicit chocolate.
But really, Boris, show some class and gratitude and STFU, please. Barely has it been announced and
Becker is already spinning it:
"I think the last six months have been challenging on many levels. Our hands were tied a little bit because we couldn't do the work we wanted to do.
"He didn't spend as much time on the practice court in the last six months as he should have and he knows that.
"Success like this doesn't happen by pushing a button. Success like this doesn't just happen by showing up at a tournament. You have to work your bottom off because the opposition does the same."
STFU. :cover
"I don't know if he had any personal problems based on what I know," Becker said.
STFU. :cover
"But he has got to go back to work. He has to go back to the office and practice these hours and refocus on what made him strong in the first place."
ST-the actual-FU!
Who'd hire a jerk who's first action is to dash to the media and start blabbing like a newbie? Becker did well out of Novak, and Novak obviously felt that Boris wasn't the man to help him out of his current slump. Becker's reaction should have been a swift dose of introspection (I doubt he knows how) and two large sugar lumps of gratitude... :nono
