My point isn't that he's "slowing down." My point is about the mental walkabouts, which he's always been somewhat susceptible to. (Does anyone remember @nehmeth, a big Djokovic fan, talking about being on the "Nole-coaster," even all the way back to '12?) As they get older, they become a bit more inclined to mental lapses, nerves, dips in level. My reason for asking was really that he looked unwell, as Don Fabio also commented on, and was wondering if he'd given any explanation. In any case, maybe I am hoping that he's less-reliably at a top level, whether it's fitness or focus, but we've seen it happen to all of them as they get older...the off-sets and off-days do feature a bit more.

He's always been prone to them. This is nothing new. Yes, it'll happen more as he gets older. Unfortunately, the only two people capable of taking advantage are both older than him.

Just because he's closer than he's ever been? Don't be such a baby.

Ya, but barring a miracle Fed has no chance.

The miracle would involve Fed winning both AO and W and Ralph losing RG and all of them happening in 2020.
Even then, there is no guarantee. Just a possibility.

I don't think Roger wins another one, but Rafa still has work to do. AO would be great.

Even if one of the three events that I mentioned don't happen, I think Ralph will surely pass Fed (just through orgies  alone).
I would estimate the chances of all the three events that I mentioned happening to be less than one in a million.

"I don't think Roger wins another one" is something I've been hearing for a long time now. Of course, at one point it's bound to be true and the older he gets the more likely that's the case. But for now, let's hold off on these predictions.

Given his last two Wimbledon results, it's pretty hard to predict otherwise. What's your prediction for Roger going forward in the Majors?

Can you guys imagine if Nadal actually passes Federer while Federer is still playing? This would be much worse then what happened to Sampras...:help: And imagine if they actually play a match after Nadal wins his 21st, the handshake at the net would be surreal. But I have a feeling that Federer will retire probably this year because of the inevitable.

You really going to troll all of the treads with your gloating? Why don't you just shrivel back under your bridge and call it a night?

My trolling is not even 1% of Federer and Djokovic's trolling... They have done it for decades (especially Federer fans). Sorry but it's karma so stop being a crybaby... :smooch:

Back in the day I was as much a devotee of Federer as anyone, but I've moved on! Never cared for Nadal from the beginning, so Nole the lone one standing in the end more than likely since he has more time on his side! He's already close; taking 4 of the last 6 majors helped keep him in shouting distance! Again, you'd have to be in total denial to that unless injury overtakes him again! We'll see, but I'm happy enough with his position! It helped him to have Rafa win this USO rather than Fed! It'll just be less of a jump if Fedal are tied if we're lucky! I'm still on board to have the NG'rs make their move! Med did his part & tested Rafa in his 1st major final; nothing to be ashamed of!

Djokovic and Federer are done! That Wimbledon final was their farewell moment. Rafa is the chosen King and he will end up on top. :good::bye:

To answer this question: I actually have no idea to be honest. I just want to enjoy this moment as long I can remember!

On a serious note: It really just depends on whether or not Federer can win just 1 more slam. Even though Federer blew two championship points, I still think deep down in my heart that there's one more Wimbledon title in him. I just think when you are a great as Federer, you will find a way to sneak one more before you go to your sunset.

Anyways, I will just enjoy this moment right now! :-)2

He's already said he wants to try and play till he's 40 which has already been mentioned so dream on. He's hopefully gonna be around another 2 full years. Let's be honest, both of them winning slams depends a lot on Djokovic so just be thankful for his injury and also Federer's injury here 'cos Nadal didn't play well enough to beat Roger here.

Tough to say, very lot unknown variables.
Mostly how Novak and Roger will play next year and the draws are so damn important. No one of the three could get through tough draws anymore at Slams!!!!
But I think Nadal have the best chances now. Novak will win more slams, but another 4-6, is hard to imagine.
Think this Slam changed everything and put Nadal in best position.

My prediction is he'll continue to go deep and put himself in a position to win some for at least next year. I just don't understand how he's not at worst, the second favorite at Wimbledon, and Novak on grass can be upset before the final. I mean the guy was literally a point away from winning Wimbledon this year so why are we talking like he's done? I don't think he wins the AO or obviously, the FO. But he'll be a contender at the former and depending how things play out, has a chance. If Wimbledon goes by and Roger is still stuck on 20 then we can revisit this because then I'd start to believe his window might be officially over.
