Well, I fully believer Serena will win it. She'll have to keep her nerves down, which is what she blames last year's loss on. But, assuming she can do that because it's on her mind, she'll be unstoppable. There is simply no one out there who is actually capable of beating her if she's at her best. Vika can get her to play at a lower level however. BUT, she utterly failed to do that in Rome and in general I doubt she'll ever be able to do that on clay, because clay is just not her strong suit. I do imagine Vika will do better here this year than she did last year and therefore I imagine she'll get the #2 ranking for her efforts because with her adding points and Sharapova losing points, Vika should pass her.
Honestly, because I have Serena winning as a foregone conclusion, I'm just hoping some lower ranked players that I like can clean up there act and get some points. Mainly Sloane and Pavlyuchenkova. Sloane actually has a 3rd or 4th round to defend here. So she needs to find a different level real quick like. I'm also looking at those players who are likely to lose some significant points and how it will effect them. Just in the top 10 really. And really just for two ladies. Kvitova and Errani. I like Kvitova so I'm sad to see her playing so abysmally this year, but especially the last few weeks. Should that continue, she will not be defending her semi and will lose several hundred points. And then as for Errani, I doubt she makes the final again this year. BUT, I would say that she is actually one of the favorites to make the final. I mean, the way she played in Rome AND Madrid, making the semis both times, I think pretty much ensures she'll make the quarters and probably the semis. Should she avoid Serena by being on the other side and avoid Maria or Vika because they unexpectedly lost, she could make the final again. BUT, I personally think Maria is going to make the final again where she'll be beaten by Serena yet again. SO Errani will lose several hundred points as well, BUT it won't hurt her as much as Kvitova. In fact, she could feasibly lose in the quarters and not drop in the rankings at all. As for Kvitova, she actually wouldn't fall but one, behind Kerber, unless Stosur or Wozniacki (HAHAHA) can win this thing.
I'm also hoping to see Radwanska lose just as early as she did last year, hopefully earlier, so that when she loses before the final (hopefully well before the final) at Wimbledon, she will lose quite a few points and get a little closer to losing that #4 ranking. I really don't care for her. She's wonderful at anticipation and crafty shots, but I can't stand her. The only problem is, barring Errani, Li, Kvitova, or Kerber winning the French and doing well at Wimbledon, she still won't drop out of the top 4 (especially if Errani loses before the final at RG like I think she will and Kvitova loses points as well).
So ready for this thing to get started.
