He played tons of short balls against Soderling at RG 2009 also and it's one of the main reasons he lost. He just manages to get away with it most of the time. Not only are they hit way too short, but also often right in the middle of the court. Complete sitting ducks. This is why he's losing more and it's got more to do with this than all this talk of confidence issues.
If he had done that for years how he has got 14 GS and multiples MS? it seems it has been very effective . I see, maybe your fav never hit short balls and never go the the middle of the court, sorry but he has done that many times and it wouldn't be because his good serve .......who knows
