Today he has lost against a player who has played better than anyone else but very difficult that he could repeat it again (unfortunately)

It's no longer a dream but tournaments are more interesting with Nadal in at least the QFs, so I hope he can come back a bit.

Rafa has said about the match: "I played well, I didn't play a bad match but I think Feli played great. I was there during the whole match with the right intensity, with the right attitude, doing the things I have to do but today I played against an opponent that has played a fantastic match. He played the best match ever against me without any doubt. I congratulate him, that's it"
It's so true, Feli played the match of his life in all the ways, he would have beaten to anyone but Rafa was the "victim" though I also have to say that he (Rafa) gave me good vibes, he played well, not perfect, not his best but you can tell that he is closer and closer. I think the USO is going to bring us (his fans) a very good time.
We'll see today how Feli is going to play, I doubt that he can play two matches in a row so well, no way but I hope to see a good match like yesterday against Rafa and also very good Muzz-Dimitrov although this last one didn't play so well in the most crucial moments

No wonder I didn't remember that match; I didn't watch much of the 2013 summer! When tennis is real ugly, it's hard, and no one plays the game as ugly as Senor Nadal! That was his swansong, thank GAWD! He must have made his deal with the Devil and it's gone downhill ever since! I truly hope Rafa hangs in there and gets embarrassed even more than he has of late; esp. at Wimbledon! I've lost even more respect for Roger allowing Nadal to have those 2 titles in '08 & '10; one directly in a final and the other when he let himself be upset by another lame baseliner on grass; Berdych! What's going on now is what I expected; just a little delayed due to the gutlessness of today's players! It took some kids like Rosol, Darcic, Kyrgios, and Brown to bring normalcy to it all IMO! Who will be the lucky one to take Rafa's scalp next? If his brethren from Spain start beating him like Lopez last night, you know the end is near! No, I think Rafa was at his worst this year since 2005. However, you never know, deeper dips may still could come.

I just can't make up my mind about how well Roger's playing; hard to tell when some "roll over" for him like Anderson last night! Nole almost lost at Wimbledon to this guy, but I had to turn away after a couple minutes watching how horrible he was against Federer! The simplest point was made more complicated with his own incompetence; esp. at the net! "Gutless" is the word of this era concerning so many of these players! I was more disappointed in Grigor allowing Murray to come all the way back! Had a match point and just didn't get it done! He'll be thinking about that match for a very long time; and rightfully so! No, I think Rafa was at his worst this year since 2005. However, you never know, deeper dips may still could come.

Well, deeper dips may come for Roger as well, but you described 2013 as "his worst." However, we won't know what would have happened if they met in the quarters, because they won't meet. The history between them is on Rafa's side...

Good summary, carol. The match we all can't wait to see is between Novak and Stan. We can't be sure if Novak will try tank this one until it's over :snicker but we expect he'll try to, at some stage, then pull off the win.

Roger should dispatch Feli, and Andy should beat Gasquet, which leaves us with the strange match, Berdych v Dolgo. I wouldn't be surprised to see the Dawg take a nip out of the Bird, but I expect the semis to be all the toppermost players in action...

Dolgo/Jerzy, Wawrinka/Karlovic, Djoko/Goffin, Cilic/Gasquet, Dimitrov/Murray, Feliciano/Rafa was simply outstanding to watch.
Berdych/Robredo and Federer/Anderson was amazing too but horribly one sided lol
I am still impressed by the pure quality of yesterday's tennis.

Thankfully to Pavel TNS we can watch highlights in full hd quality

I just meant that Rafa has had a knack for playing Roger at favorable times or on favorable surfaces. Roger kept making it into the later stages of clay tournaments when Rafa was in his heyday, and kept taking his licks while Rafa never seemed to hold up his end of the bargain when Roger was dominating the USO.

Just so you know, I am only half serious. I know Rafa's game gives Roger trouble almost regardless of surface and even when Roger is in good form. Still it would have been nice to see more matches between Roger and Rafa on grass or fast hards.
