Waiting for Nadal to have a surgery ???

Exactly. He's planning to play through and have surgery after the WTF, apparently. Now, that means he'll be playing with this, then recuperating and surely losing practice time for Oz.

Oz is the priority! I hope he doesn't get this call wrong... :nono

Honestly Nadal has lost the plot.Nadal should have this surgery now.He is putting himself in a position that his appendix could burst, having had my appendix burst, when I was also on medication,I was not in the position as Nadal is in now,he is a athlete for goodness sakes.I wish he would look at the Big Picture for once.Honestly I give up on him........:nono

Exactly. He has a long flight home from China, I just hope he sleeps peacefully through it.

But the operation should take place soon. He's not going to win anything playing with this, anyway, and if his wrist is still not 100% (it's not), then he gains added time to help this.

It isn't rocket salad, Ralphy... :nono

Great idea - let's go anyway!

Yeah, his body is breaking down. I think he suffers from tension, he's physically hyper and seemingly unable to take downtime without it involving some physical activity. Nobody seems able to get through to him - I'll meet you there on Saturday! :snigger :smooch

I think most Rafa fans would prefer to have continued in the waiting state, as opposed to
what is currently going on.

The only good thing for Rafa right now is that he is complete free of any obligations from
Nov. 17th until whatever is his first tune up. It is completely possible to have surgery,
recovery and training before the first tune up.

It is also a good thing that he decided to go for surgery instead of using the "wait
until it comes back" approach.

Even though he gets lots of health issues, most of the time I think he is indeed
making the right calls as far as dealing with it is concerned. I think this time also.
he is making the right call.

Given that his appendicitis is in early stages, the chances of it bursting before
year end is small.

"Antibiotics alone successfully treated appendicitis 63% of the time.

People who received antibiotics instead of surgery were 39% less likely than those who underwent surgery to have developed complications such as a perforated appendix, peritonitis, or infection around the appendectomy incision.

About 20% of those treated with antibiotics had a return of pain or other symptoms and needed to go back the hospital; some of these had serious infections brewing."

Well it says 63% of time. Unlucky people fall into the other 37% I guess. Sorry it didn't work out for you.

Sorry we will have to agree to disagree on any medical sites. For me any athlete that has a dodgy appendix should have it out ASAP.None of us have a crystal ball in this instances, also it can cause further complications, yep it happened to me.I am saying this with over 30 years in the medical profession.

Agree, most people go down the surgery route. Guess the thought of any possibility of antibiotics doing the job though means some people will take the chance as not many people enjoy going for surgery and would avoid it if at all possible. If it's necessary then I'm sure he'll get it done. Many people myself included put up with pain for wisdom teeth and take antibiotics instead of having to get them taken out. I know it's not the same thing but an example where antibiotics sufficed for many and the surgery was avoided.

My wisdom teeth eventually pushed up through the gums thankfully but people in work with me came in after surgery all black and blue and talking like they had mouths full of marbles so I'm glad antibiotics worked for me!

^Sorry it worked okay for me when I first read it,I checked that I posted the correct link?

Okay my translation,I will highlight the most relevant points

Rafa Nadal underwent a medical check-up at the Mapre Medical Tennis Clinic in Barcelona today, which has shown favourable progress in his appendictis. The Spainard put himself in the hands of Dr Cotorro, who consulted with surgeon Dr Movellon, once the clinical examination and relevant tests were performed and after both agreed to do a blood test and a CT Scan with contrast of the abdomen, the later confirmed Nadal 'has presented the clinical picture )symptons) of appendictis that has been localized by the antibiotic treatment in Shanghai.

According to doctors, the player's progress is statisfactory and he is currently showing no symptons,so this treatment will continue for about 4-5 days and depending on his progress appropriate therapeutic decisions will be made.
