Yes, one has to laugh at you. The fact that the report said there was "no deliberate mishandling of classified information" is a convoluted way of saying "there is a case to be made here that Hillary wasn't up to anything shady, and since 80% of the people at the State Department agree with her politically, we would like to believe that and just move on from this."

You also are not making a big deal out of this part of the CNN article:

"The investigation found 91 separate violations of classification rules. The report said the use of personal email by Clinton posed an "increased risk of unauthorized disclosure."
"While the use of a private email system itself did not necessarily increase the likelihood of classified information being transmitted on unclassified systems, those incidents, which then resulted in the presence of classified information upon it, carried an increased risk of compromise or inadvertent disclosure," the report stated.
"

And from the Daily Caller's Chuck Ross, who did the best job of any American reporter in covering the stupid Mueller investigation:

"State Department investigators probing Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server as secretary of state discovered nearly 600 security incidents that violated agency policy, according to a report the Daily Caller News Foundation obtained.

The investigation, conducted by the State Department’s Bureau of Diplomatic Security, found 38 individuals were culpable for 91 security violations. Another 497 violations were found, but no individuals were found culpable in those incidents."

So let's put this all together for your petty little mind, Federberg:

- 91 violations of classification rules/security violations (acknowledged by CNN)
- A total of nearly 600 security incidents
- 38 individuals culpable

Add to that, these factors:

- 13 cell phones destroyed and bleach-bitted
- 33,000 emails deleted
- Comey's goofy press conference in July 2016 in which he laid out damning evidence of Hillary but then said charges would not be brought

The truth is that this email investigation is just the tip of the iceberg. This investigation is not just about silly emails. The Clinton Foundation was an international money laundering organization and white collar crime syndicate.

Short answer is to the first question is no. Beyond the governor's race, the Republicans did better down-ballot in KY, and also that Southerners, in particular, tend to stick with their powerful incumbents. That said, Trump staked part of his reputation on Bevin, who was pretty unpopular, and lost. And this rather quiet little election across the board showed that the suburbs are turning even more against the Republicans, as they did last year. McConnell will survive, but his party, not having right or law on their side in the case for impeachment, or the one for removal, have been trying to make the political case that it's "unimportant" and have been taking it to the people. In that sense, I think they were dealt a blow. Mitch should feel secure enough, and he's already made his deal with the Devil, but there are other Republican senators who are up for reelection next year, and they might be swayed by the results of yesterday. I'm not sure how McConnell could sway their votes, if they need to protect themselves. Trump has shown that he's a cult of one. His influence doesn't protect the party. Besides going to KY to campaign, he went to Mississippi 2 days ago. The Republican candidate there did win, but only by 6+% points. In 2015, the Republican candidate for Governor of MS beat the Democrat by 30%. The Republicans are clearly losing ground.

The second part of your question is: will this change his impeachment strategy. Based on what they've done so far, and what McConnell has shown of himself, all I can think of is that he'll double-down and get nastier. Until that doesn't work, and then they'll do what they did to Nixon: tell him he doesn't have the votes and force him to resign.

Thanks. We live in hope!

I would guess though that McConnell is probably more open, than most would assume, to ditching Trump if he feels that improves his chances of remaining as Senate Majority Leader

Moscow Mitch knows that Presidents are temporary, and senators are (theoretically) forever. Yes, if his remaining in power, and therefore the Republicans, means ditching Trump, he’ll do that.

I volunteer to stomp on her neck if she does.
I just don't understand the more progressive candidates. The aim should be to beat Trump. All this stuff about revolution completely misses the point imho. I'm curious to see if Mayor Pete, should he be successful in the Iowa and New Hampshire, will he be able to turn around his dire standing with black voters. I hope he's working on that. It's going to be fascinating to see if he holds up well in the next debate. He's made a few cocky statements which I hope he's learned from

As much as I like Pete, I don’t want him to win the nomination, because he would never win the general election. He’ll never get the black voters behind him, given everything that’s happened in his home town. His only chance would be as a running mate to Harris, but unfortunately she has all but vanished from everyone’s radar.

I don’t know who will/should win the nomination at this point. Warren would be my last choice among the remaining top group. She would be endlessly portrayed as a socialist. Biden and Bernie are both old white men — I don’t see them inspiring young and/or minority voters. So, it’s pretty much a mess, lol.

Lol! I'm in the same boat as you. I do think however that Pete could turn it around. I actually don't think it's the issue in his home town that's holding him back with black voters. I think it's his sexuality sadly. Older black voters are very socially conservative. If the GOP would do away with racial discrimination and focussed on their other core policies they would probably run the table with both blacks and Latinos truth be told. Dubya was right that the GOP needed to change. Unfortunately for them it'll probably be a generation before the stain of this administration will be forgotten. They've basically californiaed themselves nationwide now..

I would love to hear an explanation for what Nikki Haley is doing right now. It really makes no sense at all. She was in a perfect position before, why get closer to the orange buffoon?

She’s already jockeying for position for 2024. By embracing Donald, she’s appealing to his fans, which they will remember.
