Novak is such a hard player to read. He can play trash or meh tennis for a set or a match and get through. He also can go from “damn I really want to lose this match” to a form that is like “did y’all really think I was going to lose this” in a matter of minutes.

Matteo Berretino has got to try to make the game uncomfortable for the Serbian Surgeon Slayer..he has to bring Novak to the front court like Brooksby did . Poor kid just don't have a serve like Matteo's hammer.

You can't put that kind of pressure on him. It isn't like he has win over Djoke to draw confidence from. It is NOT his responsibility to be your knight in shining armor. It was your boy's responsibility to take care of him in his backyard at RG and then we wouldn't even be having this convo.

Novak isn't invincible but you CAN'T just go boom boom serves and trying to knock your FH through him..You can't put that kind of pressure on him. You can if those are your strengths and that's all you know. Given what you know about his weapons, just how should he approach the Serb (and don't come with out-of-the-box stuff that isn't capable in his game)?
The most we can hope is for MB to keep Djoke out there for 4 hours and wear him down for the semi and final. I expect a 3 hour match, unfortunately.

Body serves Novak with a delayed serve and volley..return Novak's to the center of the court and stay on his FH..when stressed Novak's UFEs will increase..slice his BH low to Novak s BH and try to take him down the rabbit hole of slicing. Take away Novak's DTL serves. When stressed Novak's serves are either going DTL or to the corner of the box. Take some chances not by crushing winners but hitting the ball deep and come forward to the net to put pressure on Novak's ground strokes. Cheers
And the X-factor: get the crowd on his side.
All very good tactics that he should be able to execute comfortably in his game. Hopefully his team has the same ideas.

Best part of watching a non Fedal match vs Novak is the end . If Novak hugs the opponent at the end. That's usually means he Lost.
