WHAT'S that about? i haven/t been up on their personal matters -- rumors or what\? i should hope not - he seems to have a wonderful father/husband life now .

in any case -- they're showing on tennis channel of course last year's finals -- and reminds of just how FINE NOLE was in his performance against roger. you almost forget it after being so used to his dominance these past few years now.

Not sure, but he's said private issues have been a factor:

Thanks for the Day 1 schedule, BB. I'm away and hardly have my head in it starting. I hope to get there at least once this week.

What's the story with Novak's "personal problems" that are unrelated to the wrist? Any idea?
I'd also be curious about this from the insiders. Not surprising, if you watched him play that match, but it has been a curious summer of interpreting Novak. What percentage of all of this is physical, and what percentage personal/mental/pressure? Perhaps Mastoor is right. The first few rounds at the USO might tell us not only a lot about Novak, but about Rafa and Del Potro as well, who are also in the cabinet of curiosities this week.

Tiafoe up 2 sets to love on Isner. See, this is why I usually pick who I want to win, not who I think is going to win. Because I picked Isner in my draw challenge, but and now I'm going to feel I betrayed young Frances if he does win. But I'll be happy!

Isner back in this again taking the third and leading in the fourth.

Are you watching Nadal? Seems to be cruising.

I'm traveling today and only watching scores. I see he won 1-4-2. Btw, I think he played Istomin 2nd round in 2010 the first year he won it and Istomin gave him a harder time, even though that was straights too. I see Isner has evened things up. I hope Tiafoe has some good fight in him.

no ONE can accuse me of NOT being a fan of the big-game - big serve player -- after all my TOP favorites of all time have been Pete Sampras, Graf, Serena...among others...

but i consider it an INSULT to the tennis that someone like ISNER actually stands out there to play basketball...where he ought to be. lol.

go TIAFOE.

deciding tb zooming into view.

the size and imensions of the court begin what they are - and the height and length of the net --

SERVING SKILLS is when you have players probably up to around 6-4 - not much more above that -- able to get the ball over that particular height as they do.

serving skills is ROGER federer at 6-1 ..nadal at 6-1, nole at 6-1, even 1 6-6 guys...

or serena at 5-9, etc...

THAT'S serving skill...

raise the net higher by a commensurate 2-3 inches and ISNER serves as he DOES -- is when i am convinced he is a ''great serve"/.

otherwise he is a nobody in tennis for me.
