Just watching the replay of Delpo vs Thiem. Delpo's forehand is on fire and he is hitting double hand backhand too. The crowd is electric amazing atmosphere and arguably one of the better matches of this year's US Open

It is not only important that RF wins today, but also important he wins in a maximum of 4 sets and in less than 3 hours to have some chance against Rafa. If this goes to big 5 set tug of war extending to four hours or more, he may not have physical or mental energies for the SF.

If healthy of course. Beaten him 4 straight now, 3 this year, so clearly he has a good shot. Obviously Nadal can play better than he did today and he'll have to do. Roger still has to win tonight but should unless he forgets the game plan of pummeling the lack of Del Potro backhand and Roger of course needs to be as close to 100% as possible and revert back to his Indian Wells and Miami return of serve and back to basics one, two punch, big serve/nicely placed serve and follow up winner game plan. Hopefully he'll bring out his best when needed.
right i mean obvs if he was playing at AO level this would be a moot point i wouldnt even be asking this but based on his recent play and rafas recent play who would have the upper hand? i think the fact that he won 4 in a row is pointless tbh it could always go either way

Well, Anderson could possibly defeat Rafa, on a good day at least, being a big server.

Meh, in a slam final, I'd be shocked. I agree it's possible in theory, but still, we're talking about Rafa being an overwhelming favorite in that scenario.

Where is the breakdown of JMDP backhand that everybody predicted? It is holding up good. In fact his forehand seems to break up more often than the backhand (so far).

Fed is not even holding his serves as quickly as he used to do.

Fed looked very good vs Lopez and while he's not bad vs Koleslaw and DP I'd say it's a level above 2013 but below 2014-2015. It might not be enough tonight, and it certainly wouldn't be enough vs Rafa on a slow/medium hard court.

Del Potro isn't even playing well, that's what is sad here.

This could be over quickly. Roger looks weak as hell tonight.

Fed needed to take the crowd out of the match. The only way to do that is by winning the first set. Now that he lost it, the crowd will play a huge role in the second set.

He's making DP look good and truth is DP hasn't been good since the wrist went lame.

To be honest, I almost hope Roger loses as I don't think he's capable of beating Rafa in his current form. I'd rather take the QF loss to Delpo.

It does beg the question: What happened to the Roger we saw earlier in the year, even Wimbledon?

Every fucking serve is down the T and Fed isn't even moving there.
