Judging by the 15 min highlights I saw Nadal played pretty well...

Dusan had jitters when serving for the first set and also early in TB. If he had taken the first set, he would at least have made it competitive, even though he would have lost in the end.

Now, Rafa has straightforward matches in R2 and R3. So, I will only watch his R4.

The big problem with some players is when the play against the top players they don't have anything to lose and trying to take all the risk but it not always works well, the serbian has started the first set with a very strong dynamic against a erratic Nadal but later he paid for it and this last one winning the first set he usually wins the 98% of the matches

I don't agree that he Dusan was redlining or taking too much risk in the first set. He actually played sensibly only, but got tight at the business end, as expected.

It wasn't all Rafa playing badly; Dusan played well within himself and if he had it all to do again, he would want to play the same! He just needed to take advantage of where he was at the time with break and set points at hand! He might not have won, but he probably should have extended the match to at least 4 sets! :ptennis:

Just checked the weather forecast for Flushing Meadows. They say no rain is expected until Sunday at least.

I doubt if Rafa and his team were impressed with his level of play..most consensus is that he was battling a bit of nerves..the last great Rafa match on hard courts was vs Coric at Montreal earlier this month.

feds backhand doesnt look anywhere as good as it did back in AO and that might be his downfall eventually

Why the stadium with the roof on is so noise? I don't recall that happens in Wimbledon and AO

He's slicing back every return and his backhand is suddenly poor. That's the difference, not sure if his back isn't right or he's just playing bad.

Connery comes every year and looks that much older every year. Right Darth, very sad.

Fed moving poorly and as soon as he hits a backhand the point is over right now
