Rafa 2008 at RG in his first match if my memory serves me right...lost the set 7-5 I am trying to remember the guy he played was it an Italian?
Sorry...that stat was just about the US Open. Rafa has won RG without dropping at set at least 2 times, including 2008 and 2019, but I think he did it 3 times. Roger won OZ and Wimbledon without dropping a set, I think, once each. Surely Novak has won Oz without dropping one, no? It's just the USO.

Is Roger a threat, even if he plays Oz? How much will Rafa be, though more likely, but at least they're scheduled to be in, which is more added to the threat, is my point. Bank on someone else if you like, but it's still my argument: the AO looks less of a lock for Novak because of: 1. age, 2. increased pressure for #21, 3. competition is threatening. And if you want to add: his old rivals are coming back, or at least one, which he didn't even have to face in this USO or last, and still didn't get the job done. No matter what some say, the window is closing even on Novak, and the pressure increases, because of that. Medvedev having broken through is a big deal. Presumably Thiem comes back. And some of the younger ones are becoming more of a threat. All I'm saying is that Novak does not go into Oz with much of anything like less pressure, and arguably the competition will be more formidable.
Dominic has to get his mental focus back,he even said when he won the USO, found it hard to focus, his play this year has been well below par, regardless of this current wrist injury,I am out on him, until he can prove otherwise.I am not a fan anyway.

Did DJOKOVIC look like a spent force? He had a much longer road to the final and only won one match in three straight (second round).
No Rafa..No Roger, no Stan..no Dominic Thiem.. beside last year mental midget.. Novak played Nobody.. His road was not difficult, IMO

No worries. But my curiosity is if Novak has won a Major without dropping a set. I can't find it.

I'm watching this match eating my victory M&Ms (Carmel) and I haves a tall glass of Silk Almond milk Vanilla (unsweetened with only 30 calories) in case I began to feel some empathy towards Novak's anguish .. jajaja
Novak lost with all those celebrities of NY and worldwide in attendance.
I haven't had this much fun since RG 2020. Life is always so Good.

I'm pretty sure you've made it clear you are not a fan of Thiem. I would have said it was worth repeating for all the Djokovic fans who just showed up a few days ago for the presumed victory lap, but I doubt we'll see them again before Nov. or Jan., now. I know that Thiem has issues, but I figure to see him back by the AO. If not, that is worrying for him, fan or no.

Djokovic on how he felt after defeat,

"Relief,I was glad it was over the build up for the tournament, everything I had to deal with mentally and emotionally throughout the last weeks was a lot.At the same time I felt sadness, disappointment and gratitude to the crowd".

Rafa has actually won RG without dropping a set a whopping 4 times! Although 2019 wasn't one of them (you might be thinking of 2020). You are dead on about Roger and his respective slams though. Novak has never won a slam without dropping a set, and he really only came close in his first two Australian Open titles, losing only 1 set each time.

I just found this stat on the USO,

Medvedev becomes the 1st man since Nadal in 2010 and 2nd since Lendl in 1987 to drop only 1 set en route to the USO men's singles title.

If I had been him, I wouldn't have been in half the good nature expressed by Nole had with all the stupid questions on winning the CYGS! It's not as much pressure as much as frustration with the ineptitude of the masses almost going out of their way to jinx an accomplishment by talking about it too much! The idiot press looks to push a little girl out of the game with their neverending STUPID questions that have little to nothing to do with tennis! I hope Osaka doesn't leave for good! :sneezing-face::zippermouthface:

I have consolation prize in picking Medvedev to win tournament :) Actually picked all 4 slams correct winner this year. Novak fell apart there completely during the 2nd set, Serena like.
