Larsson holds serve and consolidates and leads 4-2 in the 3rd set
Sloane is just a error machine at the moment

Sloane is just struggling out there. And I'm not surprised because she's been terrible all year. Commentators are talking about Larsson giving her all sorts of different spins and paces and it's working. But Sloane is just missing too.

Larsson will serve for the match,Sloane is her own worst enemy on court, her ufe in the 3rd set is just horrid.

And I just don't believe even remotely that Sloane has what it takes to come back from 2-5 down. So Larsson's got this upset. Stephens will have to break twice and hold all in a row and it's just not going to happen. Larsson is just too crafty. And while Sloane is starting to show frustration after doing well to hold it in all match, Larsson of course is stoic.

Sloane gets a mid-point mulligan, and still blows it on match point. :nono

Have watched two upsets today where the loser actually played a decent game of tennis - the oponent was just playing her lifes match - so congrats to Peng and Larsson for their brilliant play :clap

Especially Aga tried all the tricks in the book even that's not enough. Stephens has got a more consistent gameplay and that's promising for the future.

Sloane doesnt need these big time coaches, what she needs is a little known coach who she can grow with and doesnt have to pay big bucks..remember how she was laughing at Serena during that Ana match..its karma .

63 UE for Sloane, 36 winners.
30 UE for Johanna, 11 winners.

It's ironic she lost that point.

A little funny tweet which puzzles me a bit:

Caroline Wozniacki @CaroWozniacki · 41 min

My @usopen driver doesn't know how to get from manhattan to the site. Interesting. #matchday

How can that happen today??? Well she's reached the US Open BUT!

Caroline Wozniacki ‏@CaroWozniacki 7 min.

Made it to the site! All good! I know traffic can be crazy in NY, but transportation always try their best!

Sloane is one of the most naturally gifted tennis players on tour,it is just soo frustrating to watch her play like this.I honestly dont know what the answer is,she mentally went away in this game, she has a great new coach, maybe they need more time together.

I have a lot of different thoughts about this match, but I'm gonna go with, you just can't have a good day all the time. And Sloane has just been up and down all year. She has not been very mentally tough. And today she just had too many errors. A bunch of winners. But a lot more errors. And that's sort of a credit to Larsson. Because she really did give Sloane all sorts of different balls. Different spins, straight up junk balls, and she would take the pace off of them and then inject the pace again. It was a very smart game plan. And it worked well in the first set but not enough. Sloane was up 3-0 in the second and should have held out to finish it off. But from 3-0 love up in the second she only won 3 more games the whole match. Too many errors. So she could have found a way around Larsson's variety and did for a while. But whatever switched on or off in her mind just caused her to have too many errors.

She just needs to hit the practice court. The slams are done for the year. She's got to try to find some ground after the Open so she can stay in the top 30 or 40, maybe get back into the top 20. She needs to put in some hard work. You don't really get to this level without putting in hard work, so she's done it. But since she's been around the top she hasn't gone in and done the hard work to get to another level in my opinion. I mean, she has yet to be in a WTA level final. All her younger peers have 1, 2, 3, or 4 titles to their name and she's just running around getting to qfs. She's got too many weapons to not find a way to put it all together and come up with wins.

Ugh, Serena and Venus are playing doubles again. I wish they would have just focused on singles and then rethink doubles in 2015. They haven't had any impact in doubles since 2012, so they are going to have to come up with something to reinvigorate their doubles game and gain that impact again if they are serious about it.

I havent watch it but I insist on saying that its an attitude problem. Something is wrong inside her head.

^ Well that has been obvious with Sloane, she just hasnt got that killer mentality in matches, when she gets behind in matches, she just gives up.I dont know if any coach can really help in that area.It is up to a player on court,to fight back and win, that is a way you get a stronger mentality on court.

I'm not sure what her problem is but as soon as Larssen took that 2nd set I knew it was over.
She doesn't have the best come-from-behind record.
