Si, I am rooting for Petra, not picking her. Most fans know she will not get far here.

If Serena does not win. I want Ana, Halep, Petra, Kuzy, Aga, Vika, Venus, Stosur. My list is long. Anybody other than the screamer.

I am Petra fan and something tells me it could be different this time. I don't say she is going to win it all but we will see after her first two matches. If she wins it easily then she will get far and the semi with Serena would be great.

^ Petra hasn't gone further than the 4th rd at the USO,her first match is about to start.Petra has good form coming into the USO,still Petra can be a unknown quantity at times.

2 years ago, when Petra won New Haven, she made it into the 4th round only to lose to Bartoli. This year I am thinking she will do one better or even semis.
If she passes the test today(I don't foresee any problems), she will face a countrywoman next(no problem there), may get Maddie Keys in the 3rd and then may be Vika(big question there, will Vika get there?) in the 4th round.
I think she can beat Genie if it comes down to it(quarters), she did it in Wimby convincingly.
If things go according to seed, she will get Serena in the semis, that's one match I'll be looking forward to. Probably not going to happen.
I almost NEVER get the match-ups I want.
:cry

Soooo.... I was wondering how this 15 year old child got into the US Open and found out it's because she won the Girls 18 national championship. She beat Tornado Alicia Black, in straights sets, in that final. Annddd then she takes the first set easily from the AO finalist Cibulkova.

Sooo... my hype machine is running in my head. She's down a break in the second. We'll see how that plays out. Either way I imagine she's got a bright future.

Petra is officially on a roll, me thinks.

How about Elena Vesnina today? Won the first set 6-0, was ahead 5-1 or something like that, then got pushed to 7-5, but did it in straights. Gets Marina next instead of Svetlana, very doable for her.

She has never played Petra!

One set all with Vika and Doi. However she didn't win the 2nd set by breaking and holding. Just by breaking the final game. She couldn't hold her serve for anything in the 2nd set.
I can't even tell you what will happen in the 3rd. It's a toss-up

Fashion, I am not referring to you. I enjoy reading your posts as well as everyone else's except that one person who insists on feeling insulted every time there is a negative comment about the screamer.

^ Don't do it Kiu....even though it's calling to you.:nono
Cibby has not been playing well, so this feels like a young cub who took advantage of a half-dead deer (sometimes a National Geographic metaphor works).
Now who does she play next?;)

I am just going with the flow, that's my specialty.

So awesome that Bellis won that match. We'll see how much farther she can go. I actually imagine Diyas will beat her. She's a young up and comer herself and has been having some pretty good results I think. Unlike Cibulkova, who literally seems to not have done anything since right after Miami in Kuala Lampur. She lost in the first round here last year though to Svitolina, a younger up and comer of last year who is still a young up and comer but is now top 40 I think. Anyways, good the girl to get the win. A good strong notch in her belt. She can't play too much on the tour until 18. But she'll have this win when she gets to that point in 2 and half years time.

The CoCo v Vekic match is the only match I think I've gotten right all day though. Well, not the only one, but I literally thought Vekic would start strong and then CoCo would outlast her. Vekic of course is still not even 18 yet either. And of course, the match isn't over and I would actually prefer to see Vekic take it. So hopefully she finds a way through and makes me wrong again. But she's down 4-1 and CoCo is a pretty strong server. So I don't see it happening.

I'm probably going to give Garcia v Gibbs a look. Pulling for Garcia though over the American just because I really like her. But, she hasn't really shown any good results on the hard courts yet. All clay so far.

CSN is about to lose the first set to Ajla(say who?)
Ajla Tomljanovic is from Australia. Leading 5-3 and serving for the set.

Everyone in our tennis community is super excited about Bellis. She is a local. Very sweet kid. I don't know how successful she will be given her size, but this win will be a great memory for her. It is nice to see dreams come true for good people.

Happy to see Petra and Vika win.
