I will say I don't think it's fair to say Osaka isn't injured at all. She's got the knee brace on. You don't do that for nothing. And there have definitely been some shots she hasn't gone for today that I thought to myself, that's just because of the knee.

Still. She's not injured enough and she's playing well enough to stay in this thing. Could maybe find the game she needs to break. Or get lucky if Bencic feels some nerves.

Well that was an incredible display from Bencic. Everything she's been through. Good to see her back where she was 5 years ago.

Commentator quick to mention that Osaka will lose her number 1 ranking again.

We still can't get a player to defend their slam. Few can even defend a title these days.

Bencic just did what she's already done twice this year. She came in to this match viewing herself as the favorite. She certainly played that way. Believed throughout. You could say she's the reason Osaka lost her #1 ranking earlier this year too. Beat her in IW, where Osaka was the defending champ as well.

And she's be the favorite to make the semis. But both of those ladies can hang with her. They've both certainly got the power. She's still not unbeatable.
