That someone or someones achieving more are from his era and they've never blown incredible opportunities with the frequency Roger has. If you told him even 5 years ago he'd finish with 20 he'd be happy as a clam. But then follow it up by telling him he finished with less majors than Nadal and Djokovic and ended up blowing 5 matches at slams (QF and later) from MP up and he'd probably be disgusted. Not to mention the other bad one, 6-9 in 5th sets in SF or final stage of majors (3-8 before 2017). These guys are competitive, you think they are happy if they end up 2nd or 3rd rate even though they achieved more than other eras? Especially Roger, who is considered a decent amount more talented than the other 2.

Roger shouldn't and wouldn't be happy if either one finishes ahead of him in major count, let alone both. That however, does not mean he's underachieved.

Then what does it mean? He ends up INFERIOR to both you don't think his career would be a semi-disappointment aside from the money?

Nadal definitely still got a hard at Us open, with players like J.Isner, Cilic Verdasco, Djokovic+ Nick kyrios, hope he's can keep the level of tennis that's won him 22 out of 23 matches since Rome.

If only one of Nadal or Djokovic had to pass Federer, then Fed fans better hope that it's Nadal. The reason is that because their strength are very different so Federer would still have some kind of argument for GOATness.

I mean Nadal would have the slam record, Federer would have the weeks at no.1
Nadal would have the masters 1000 and Gold medal, Federer would have the WTFs
Nadal would have at least 2 slams on each surface and 10 consecutive years with a slam, Federer would have his SF in a row run and 3 seasons with 3 slams...
Nadal would have his epic record on clay and RG, Federer's strength would be grass and hardcourt
etc. etc.
So they would be completely different.

But if Djokovic is the one to pass Federer then it means that Federer would almost have zero chance to be considered GOAT. That's because Djokovic would have passed Federer in the slam tally but by the time he does it he would also have very similar strengths and records to Federer like WTFs, weeks at no.1, grass/hardcourt strengths, etc. He would pass Federer at his own game! Nadal meanwhile is unique in his records and strengths so it's very hard to compare, but Djokovic/Federer have a lot of similarities in their records and strengths so the final tally is even more crucial.

It's actually a fair point. From my viewpoint I hate twatdal more than any athlete in history and see him as artificial. I think he built a lot of his legacy off wheaties, simple as that. I would hate Djoker passing him but could live with it. The ratfucker going down as GOAT would make me want to kill myself.

Like I said before its two man race, for goat between Djokovic-nadal with federer lucky to even get 2nd, it's just which one gets top spot Nadal or Djokovic? Clearly you love it to be Djokovic with Federer being on par slams with Nadal. So can say Federer one of the goats, but tell the truth you deep down love nadal;)

Hardly, nothing is a given yet. I would say Roger probably had the deal sealed regarding Djokovic if he didn't choke at Wimbledon. And that'd have helped a ton vs Nadal too. Now his legacy is in jeopardy from both. Nadal's resume outside of majors will always be clearly inferior to the other two, so he knows he needs to finish ahead in the slam race. Djokovic seems destined to finish with the best non-slam resume.

Why did Medvedev take an mto?
Djoke says his elbow hurts a bit. I wonder why players say this type of stuff. You’d think hearing this gives more confidence to his opponents.

Coric withdrew. Dimitrov advances. This helps Nishikori who benefitted from a retirement in round 1.

Roger gets broken in his first service game by Dzumhur.
The malaise continues.
Dzumhur takes a 3:0 lead

The problem is that Dzumhur has no serve (not even wta level) so it’s only a matter of time until Federer finds his groove and takes control. However he’s very quick and puts a lot of balls back it’s just I don’t think it will be enough.

If Roger ever wants to get back to true elite play he needs to work on his serve. It's been mostly poor after AO last year and especially poor after 2018 Wimbledon. He gets broken left and right by just about everyone. I remember a few years back he quipped that he could jump out of bed and serve great. Maybe he isn't practicing the serve enough but it's clearly weakened.

Fed has apparently practiced many times with Dzumhur and so Dzumhur knows all too well about Fed's game. This is only bad news for Fed.
But, I still think, Fed will eventually pull it off.

But Fed knows his game too. Now Fed will struggle against anyone that can play a bit of tennis.

Dzumhur helps somewhat, because he DF enough to be broken back.

Zero excuse to come out and get broken a couple times by a cream puff. He is clearly toast mentally. Better pull the plug on the year after this tournament, he would still have the #4 rank going into next year.
