Roger made more double faults than Maria Sharapova tonight. His serving was that bad.

So, Roger proved today that his loss to Anderson at Wimbledon is not an embarrassing loss.

LOL! Hey...and I thought that Cincy mess against Djokovic was bad. Tonight was close to embarrassing. And the worst part about it is - Millman was playing at the top of his game...and Roger sill almost got it to 5 sets.

Also, Pat McEnroe just said on Sportscenter that he didn't think it was Roger's back but that there was clearly something wrong with him from the middle of the 2nd set on. I'm assuming he means "something wrong" other than just plain, every day, garden variety sucking...

Oh Boy 76 UFE (with a wide variety, forehand shanks, backhand shanks, botched volleys, slice into net, slice out long, sitter overheads).

-11 differential for Fed compared to +19 for Milkman.

Not like any of us should care, but endorsement will follow him! A win like this over Roger will help in his confidence as well!

What endorsements. You think they're lining up because he made the quarters of a major?

Wow guys. Truly horrible display from Roger tonight. Shockingly bad. Was still close because Millman ain't that great. BUT he did play incredible tonight. For him at least. Great serving. Didn't go for too much. Fed gave him every advantage though. I nearly broke my computer in half after some of his last drop shots. WHAT WAS UP WITH THAT?!!!!!! Like, just STAAAAHHHPP dude.

This will be remembered as the year that the heat/humidity wreaked havoc. I think it got Fed tonight. Looked exhausted from halfway through the first set. Not looking for excuses. Millman played well enough. Fed got beat in a close one. But just did not have his serve tonight. Nothing to blame there but lack of execution. Maybe his legs were heavy or something hurt. Who knows. He's 37 now. But mostly just was too stubborn to change his game plan. Too stubborn to take a little off to get those first serves in. And not as consistent as he was at 27. His peaks found him 3 more slams the last few years. But his valleys have been a bit lower.

Backhand was off. Forehand was off for a bit. Serve off. That drop shot stubbornness. It was like he was mad it wasn't working so he was gonna keep doing it until it did. Ridiculous.

Oy.

Ya know, there's a narrative about Fed, on occasion over the years, losing/throwing matches right before he'd have to play Nadal or Djokovic and maybe Murray too. But mostly the first two. And I think that maybe comes into play here. Just knew he didn't have the goods to beat Djokovic. Especially after Djokovic's fairly straight forward win in Cincy. If it wasn't the case in the third set, by the end of the fourth it may have certainly been a factor right? Like, surely it occurred to him there was no way he was gonna recover to be competitive with Djokovic in a days time.
I know. All of this looks like a bunch of excuses. I'm just flabbergasted. Again, Millman was great. Played hard. Hung around. Stayed tough. Deserves a ton of credit. But the match is always on Fed's racket unless its against one of his equals. And Millman simply is not that. Even at 37.
Anyways. Good for Millman.

Hmmm...ESPN said that Roger did not go to the locker room. I'm starting to suspect that it's not just old age and he's got a back issue again. If it's not his back then it's something else. Looking at the "highlights" on Sportscenter and they had a shot of his box from first set - they were already looking pretty grim and it was pretty early in the match - maybe 4th or 5th game. I'm sure Roger will say in press that he was fine but Millman told Brad Gilbert in the on court interview that Roger was "obviously not at his best." Otherwise...if he's not injured and continues to play like this? He may as well just go ahead and retire...cuz he ain't gonna win Slam #21 playing with his head up his butt...
here we go again some fedheads makeing exercises for federer getting destroyed by A Aussie saying he was Injured, lets wait to see that he says.

Milkman's record in ATP matches is 43-58. In other words, he has played only 101 ATP level matches. The man played challengers for seven years.

But, hats off to him. He played steady and played within himself and was not nervous at any time.

MEOW! LOL! Yeah...I watched that Sharapova mess and couldn't stop laughing.. I really can't stand her and I was LMAO when she lost because apparently Suarez Navarro doesn't have any warm and fuzzies for Sharapova either. They barely shook hands and Suarez pretty much immediately ignored her. I was so busy laughing at that that I should have known that was a clue that Roger was going to suck tonight. I'm 100% serious when I say he need to give Uniqlo their money back and go back to Nike. It's bad mojo to change a major sponsor after 20 years! Now the pressure is on to win a Slam in his new gear...and he's sucked ever since...

Seems Federer didn't feel like facing Nole in the quarterfinal so he imploded and turned into a UFE machine like he sometimes does. He's only a human after all.

What endorsements. You think they're lining up because he made the quarters of a major?

Back in the day there was a college player (Scanlon) that beat Ilie Nastase a couple times late in his career! That was his career achievement, but it was all he needed! That Swiss player Bastl who defeated Sampras in the 2nd RD of 2002 Wimbledon likewise had one great win as a career highlight! Unfortunately for Roger, more players are going to get fat off beating him! He better hope courts are sped up from here on out this season or he might drop out of the top 10; NOT I guess! :nono:  :ptennis:

I think Federer was very tired today. The humidity got to him. I actually think he fought through it well, but Millman was simply better in every way. He deserves it, but I am devastated right now. That was the most painful match to watch I have seen Federer play.

The italicized part is true, but not the bolded part. You are being childish.

Having said that, I admit that Novak would have certainly beat him if they had played and even if a better version of Fed showed up.

Who's narrative is that? He's played Nadal 38 times and Djokovic 46 times... we only need to look at the number of times Federer has played Nadal on clay to see he's never avoided him.

Murray???? C'mon man!

Clearly you haven't been reading my other posts. Roger flat out sucked, but even you Nadal fans have to admit - he didn't look right from the first ball. He won't make excuses in the press conference either. And besides that - at least he's taking his receding hairline like a man and hasn't run off to get a hair transplant...

Fed totally tanked to not face Nole, let’s be honest about this. Otherwise it’s time for Fed to call it a career.

Why don't you give it a rest, just for a day?
of course I will but federer lost because he played really badly not because of injury, as far we know right now, if he says he was not 100% in the press conference than ok cool.
